PM sent... Lets meet up here soon. I want to pull my exhaust apart this weekend.

UPDATE:
Weather this week has put a slight delay on the videos, after the edit sessions I found out I need to re-shoot a few things & this ice storm made it impossible. But good news is that this weekend looks clear, so I expect to re-shoot some stuff & finish the edit.
Then...I'm going to remove my entire exhaust system and check all 4 mufflers.
The hope is that I find a reversed flanged muffler & I will have my answer to as why my car has SO MUCH DRONE!.

Food for thought...
Today while driving to and from work I had the music cranking ( to avoid the drone) and to my surprise I couldn't avoid it.
I mean, I couldn't hear it due to the loud music, but I could feel the drone resonance thru the throttle pedal on my foot. At first I was like no way.....
So when I would feel the vibration I would glance down at the RPM gauge & sure enough... it was in that exact RPM range 17-2200. A few times I even quickly turned down the music to confirm the drone....
Now, granted... it wasn't a "crazy going to brake something" vibration, but it was enough to get my attention driving down the freeway at speed with the stereo cranking.
I so need to get this resolved... The longer I drive the car like this, the less happy I get with my decision to purchase the system and believe me I WANT THIS EXHAUST.... I just want what I expected to get, not this "ALMOST perfect" system I have now..

Well, wish me luck fella's...

But I do have a bit of info we gathered today.
AgsWinSS stopped by with his 2010 SS m6 today. To my surprise.. he also has a IBM camaro
He just installed the exact same exhaust system on his car. Even bought from the same vendor
We took a ride in his car and... it is no where near as DRONY ( if that's a word) and raspy as mine.
His car has a hint of 112hz at the RPM range in question, but its what I would call normal "performance" sound.

Took him for a quick ride in mine & he easily picked up on the DRONE and the raspy-ness that my car has... cant really avoid it, so it was an easy A

We put my car on the lift and he looked over everything...he said it pretty much looked the same as his car, no visible difference on install or finish.

SO I'm now pretty confident that my exhaust has a problem that is not related to the car or install.

So far, both Apex and the folks over at Stainless are telling me they have never had any issues with this exhaust setup and are not truly sure how they can help.
I'm pretty sure I would take the same road if I was the manufacture or vendor.
Not knowing the customers background or ability to install or trouble shoot automotive problems leaves a lot of possible areas of concern.
So I can't fault them up to this point. But what I can except them to do is offer to exchange parts or replace parts that might be causing the problem.
The only thing I can think of at this point is that possibly the mufflers where flanged backwards & the spiral is open in the wrong direction. This would make them less effective and it would create that "straight" pipe rasp that my car has massive amounts of. It would also change the resonant FREQ that the exhaust system produces and might be the source of the DRONE

So I have to tear my exhaust apart again & look at all four mufflers and make sure they are correct.

After riding in another car just like mine with the exact same exhaust system, I'm pretty confident I can get the problem resolved, I just hope it doesn't cost me another arm and leg.
I already gave an arm up to purchase this system ... cant afford to loose another arm....

AgsWinSS car sounded great, so all I have to do is sneak over to his house and swap him exhaust systems when he is sleeping

Video/audio of the exhaust are being edited this week.. so hopefully they will provide a bit more information to the masses of what we are talking about.

Haha, had a great time checking out AustinScotts system and definitely was surprised to see another IBM SS with the same settup because that color is pretty rare it seems. I will exchange the setup if you throw in your lift, whatcha say? I have gone on and on about how much i love the sound and performance of this setup, but it truly is the best i have heard inside and outside the car.

AustinScotts definitely was more raspy, had more decel pop, and alot more drone in the rpm range he specified. Still sounded good but the drone did get loud. I just got off of a 5 hour trip to Dallas (thanks for shutting down I35 to one lane for almost 90 miles) and my wife and I were able to have normal conversations the entire time. Even when this douche with a mid 90's cadillac wanted to race. Went ahead and gave him a head start and blew his doors off. Not sure, but i think his girlfriend broke up with him when he got home.

I have the same setup. I have a drone too. About 1800-2200 rpm. But I can live with that because I love the sound. Especially WOT in a tunnel .
The drone is less perceptible when the system is hot.

Update...

Between life events and this cold weather I have not found the time to re shoot the video I need ...
The weekend I was going to re-shoot the video, another member came by the house and we spent most of the day working on his exhaust. Great guy, great car...!
Before he left, we did manage to get some quick exhaust rev video. They where not the best videos but I figured I would post them up anyways.

My in car drone videos are coming soon, I broke one of the gopro cameras, so I have to go buy another one today.

Enjoy

Hey bud, sorry you didn't get to shoot your video that weekend but at least we were able to verify that your mufflers were flanged correctly and that the spiral was open in the right direction. Thanks again for helping me "adjust" my exhaust system. I'm glad we caught the loose hi-flow cat and that I now have more clearance in the tunnel area. You're a great guy and have an awesome garage (lift)! I hope you get to shoot your in-cabin video soon. Let me know if I can help you determine why your system has more drone than mine...or help with any other work you'd like to do on your car. Using your lift makes working on our cars easier and fun!

P.S. The cars sound great in the video...and I like the background music. Mine sounds good, considering it was running on 7 cylinders!
