Great news, let's hope this fixes the "slows" for all of you affected.

Nice!
I'm assuming they disconnected mine while they are doing the repairs (especially because of the electrical work in the doors, I'd think). I wonder if I'll notice a difference when I get i back ![]() (wait, of course I will... I'm driving a V6 Fusion... lol...) Anyway... irpq11, did you try this too? |

Like I said it just seems faster and stronger, but I am going to have GM continue their test to make sure. If they hook the computer to it and it does a low 5 second 0-60 this week then yes it did fix it. Since 2 weeks ago with testing 0-60 on their computer was like 6.28.

Funny that is what I was thinking, after I got mine back from the dealer it felt a little faster and I could swear that the dealer re-flashed the computer, but the stop watch did not lie, still slow.

They planned on doing yesterday but it started raining. The dealer did not pull the battery cable I did. And yes I drove the car hard after I picked it up with the exhaust. It feels faster after the battery pull. I took Zac for a ride and punched it when going 65 and Zac went whoa ho. I said why did he say that. He asked me if putting the exhaust on made the car push him back in his seat like that. I said nope, I think I did something to the car to do that.
I am hoping it did something, but I am still going to get all the test and I want to make sure it is right and not just a little fluke or my mind just thinking it is faster since pulling the battery. |

Ok looks like I spoke to soon. 71 degrees dry road and it still will not break the tires and bogs down off the line. Oh well gave it a shot.

Reseting the ecm tends to provide a fresh feel to a car but the ecm has the ability to learn down the same traits that piss you off over time. Example on a Solstice GXP you could turn down the screw on the Blow off valve and an instant jump in PSI occoured but the ECM learned the gains out within hours at best days.

I think this shows that your issue is most likely tuning related. Re-setting the computer allowed a short term increase in power.

Isn't the bogging off the line the torque mgmt? I seems like all the A6 are that way. From my understanding the only way to get rid of that would be a tune.
You know...there is no guarantee that if you did a tune on your car that they will automatically void your warranty especially if you take it to a reputable speed shop. Talk a little with the service manager at your dealer. Tell them you are about to pull the plug and sell off the car and that before you do that you might have it tuned to see the difference. Ask him if they know of a speed shop to go to and if that speed shop does it will they automatically void your warranty (assuming of course that the issue is not directly related to the tune). Just beause you ask doesn't mean you'll acually do the tune.

And before someone says "Magnuson-Moss", it would be Scott's responsibility to lawyer up, take GM to court, and prove the aftermarket tune had nothing to do with damage to his powertrain. I'm also relativly certain all PCM flashes GM does have to go through emissions testing first. Which means I'm also relativly certain any aftermarket PCM modifications would violate Federal Emission laws. Right or wrong, how likely would a judge be to side with someone on a warranty claim who is breaking Federal law? There is almost no way you can tune your car and keep the warranty. I agree with GM on this too, they sell you a car and give you a warranty for how they sold it to you. If you go changing things to make more power, it is not how GM sold it to you, and while its your right, its not GM's responsibility to pay for it when it breaks. You have to pay to play. Otherwise leave it stock, and its GM's responsibility to make it perform as advertised. It sucks that its taking so long, but I really do believe they'll figure it out. Just keep in mind, while it would cost the consumer ~$250 to get a single car tuned, GM has to figure out the exact single problem to fix thousands of cars, and spend up to millions on a campaign to warranty all affected vehicles. Not the buyers problem, but in reality its a big sh*t sandwich and everyone has to take a bite, just be patient and GM will work it out. |
