Last month I had to spend a small fortune to keep the car running for another year at least while I wait. I went to the autoshow here in South Florida and saw both the Challenger and Bumblebee Camaro there. As much as I want to wait for the Camaro, it might come out too late and I may order a Challenger instead. I'm betting there are lots of people in my shoe's who GM may lose as potential customers for taking this long to release the car. I was able to sit inside the Challenger at the auto-show and it is very comfortable. The back seat is huge and reminds me of my old Mercury Grand-Marqui in comfort and space. I've had a 98 Mustang now for quite sometime and felt the new camaro was the right choice for a replacement vehicle. However This April I may find myself pre-ordering a Challenger RT with a 5.7 Hemi with 370 horsepower which should be priced below $30,000. I'm quite certain the V8 Camaro will be faster at 400HP with the weight being a lot less. However I can't afford the SRT8 which is priced over $40,000. I still have to go to the the dealer and drive one of these things before I make my decision so all is not lost on the Camaro front. If more picture's come out and I get to see the final product of the Camaro in a showroom at the very least real soon, then I may have to wait and push my Mustang to survive a bit longer taking the plunge... Perhaps I get the Challenger and then when the Camaro comes out, my wife sells her Pontiac G6 for one of them. Who knows... In either case, this was a good article above and it has some very valid points. If the Camaro could have been released at the same time as the Transformers movie, it would have been a whole lot better for GM in many ways..
you really need to read a lot of the other threads man. we have all established that this time is necessary, and developing a new platform takes a lot longer than just taking the charger's plat form and shaving any where from 9" to a foot off of it and putting a coupe body on it and calling it a challenger. it is a joke that Chrysler took as long as it did to get the challenger out. expect the base V8 to be around 400hp and cost between $30,000-$35,000. I'm not sure how informed you are about the new camaro, but most of this is hogwash according to our "insiders" on the site.

Do you know how to design, engineer, and fit a plant for a real quality car in A year and a couple months?
actually that is about how long the Challenger should have taken...

Where are you guys getting this pricing info from? I though it was all speculation. From what I've read, all I've gotten is it's going to be a "premium price" over the Mustang. Thanks.

One of the GM higher-up's said that we could get an idea of the price for a new Camaro by going to Ford's website, pricing a Mustang with the options closest to what we want, and it would be close to that price.

True. But what does "Premium" mean? It's a fancy way of saying "more". How much more cannot be determined by the word itself. It could be a hundred dollars more, it could be 100,000 dollars more.

Camaro MUST compete with the Mustang...so look for 100's more. And expect 1000 dollars above, just as a saftey net. That's where I got that from.

That's what I was wondering, whether his version of premium meant hundreds or thousands above the Mustang. I would easily pay $1000 more for a Camaro over a Mustang.
