If you do a search "dead battery key won't release" you'll read all of the threads addressing this and also the how and why.

same way you get into the trunk of every car that has a battery in the trunk.

you pop the hood and you jump the vehicle from the jump posts located under the hood. Then pop the trunk button

I have owned several vehicles with the battery in the trunk and every one of them has the jump posts under the hood.

Don't people read their damn manuals any more? hell you don't even have to read it, just carry it with you and when you have an issue look in the back of the book in the INDEX and look up your problem or question.

holy f'in jebus, if you don't have enough sense to know how the fluck your car works take a g-dam bus.

There needs to be a post on the front of the forum that reads if the batt is weak or dead never put the key in and try to start it,as it will not come back out...
Then a pic of the jumper locations under the hood,as all cars that have the batt in either the trunk ,in the fender well,or under the seat have a jumper post location.....
It's funny how many times the words help the key wont come out has been posted here....

I get the sentiment but come on now. 1. She doesn't normally drive the car, 2. What is she supposed to lookup if she did have the manual? Key stuck in ignition? That won't be in the index. 3. She was freaking out and probably wasn't thinking clearly anyways.

You may have owned several vehicles with a battery in the trunk but this is my first. Don't conclude that everyone else has.

Side note, if her husband tracks the car like I do. Since everything gets removed from the car to track it after so many times this is one thing I know for quite a few people does not make it back into the car.

Sorry I'm not gonna complain about someone asking for help. If we all did that then these forums would be useless because it would be one huge fight all the time.

No man I get the OP was freaking out, and I can appreciate that, if you look at my post I was quoting and directing my statement at the other people asking "how do I get in my trunk if the battery is dead?"

The manual belongs in the car period, doesn't matter if it is tracked or not, it should always be locked in the glove box the 8oz it weighs isn't going to affect your track times.

As for concluding what everyone else has or doesn't have:

think this thru (this part is called common sense):

Do you really think a major car manufacturer like GM, MBZ, BMW, Chrysler, Audi, Toyota, Lexus etc..

Is going to design a vehicle with the battery in the trunk, no trunk key hole or exterior button AND give the owner no way to get into the trunk in the event of a dead battery?
