My husband alway lays the gun in my lap when Im left alone in the car. well anger ran strait through me and next thing I know the gun is in my hand, well I quickly wrapped it in a towel and put it in the floor, before i got out of the car. but it really scared me to know I could get that angry over this. Im glad the lady didn't see me holding the gun. it could have got bad really quick. yes, I still made a big deal about the ding and scratch on my car and she is covering the damage but Im not going to jail. I did imagin myself takeing her by the neck and squezzzzing really hard. Does this make me crazy? No just hate stupid people.
Well let's see first off the firearm should be in a bag, box or gunsafe in the car.
Even if in the glove box you should have it in a small bag.

I recommend Gungear dot com. Good folks.. awesome products
You husband probably does not want a carry Purse lol

So look at there bags and fanny packs.

The anger is normal. How you control it is what makes you an adult.

STOP and defuse. Protecting yourself and the family is sometimes just keeping it close.. but out of sight. Never draw unless you have to. Keep it in the bag. The link above.. they have holster inside the bags.

Good luck.

I have a glock 27 and if it on me when I'm in my car I leave the clip out nd the chamber empty. The gun would be locked in the glove unloaded and the clip nd ammo would be behind the passanger seat map pocket. But it would be unreasonable to pull it on someone who dinged my door, that can be settled through communication, unless they get overly defensive and decide to harm you for standin up to them. But its best to be prepared IMHO. You seemed to handle the situation well, continue carrying your gun because you never know.

Also a Glock owner in a big city. But regardless of location, so many people have guns nowadays (legal and not) that it wouldn't be unlikely for someone else to pull theirs if they see you pull yours. The anger's normal, just try to keep it in perspective. Use your gun (if necessary) to keep your butt out of danger; little situations can escalate pretty quickly and there's all kinds of stupid people out there just waiting to do stupid things. You want to be around to enjoy your car (and life) for as long as you can.

Yes you are correct, sorry. As long as you are in possession of the gun sitting in the car, or outside the car with it, it must be in plain view unless you carry a conceal permit. Read the op again, when she got out of the car without it it was no longer in her possession and it was OK to put in out of sight. Thanks

Yeah, um....

I didn't say all states honor other's permit laws.

Since the OP is from Oklahoma, here is the list of states that honor her permit:

Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida. Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North
Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Vriginia,
Wyoming

In case anyone is interested, here is all the states info:

Florida the law is pretty straight forward. The gun can't be seen, even the indents if concealed and has to be on or about Person. If you pull it out for anything other than self defense kiss your ass goodbye for a few years.
