as far as i know, that simple "feature" is how GM currently avoids the gas guzzler tax. at $1300, $30 for a skip shift eliminator is WELL worth the money.

You are correct - since 1994 I think. I have been trying to figure out why I couldn't force mine to skip shift for the first 200 miles. Thought maybe it was malfunctioning. Believe me, its working overtime now!

Where do you all get the eliminator from?

Well, there have been several suggestions on how to build your own, but I do know SLP Performance has an after market rig for about $30. Most of the more savy mechanical guys have suggested how to build your own for half that. SLP's is basically plug and play if you have a set of jacks to lift the car. You have to be able to access the side of the tranny. Do a thread search. Several suggestions out there.

Thanks. I don't have the car yet, but I'm really active on here learning as much as I can so that I can hit the ground rolling so to speak. I'll do the search.

Stop by your local Radio Shack and plop down 99 cents for a 2200 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor, unplug the CAGS plug and put the resistor into the plug. Tape it up out of the way and you're good to go.

I bought mine from BMC Performance and it came with NO instructions! I looked on the site and found a picture, but when I tried to install it, it would not connect. Does someone have a picture of where this thing goes? It has a male & female side and I assume it connects in-between on the tranny somewhere.

Thanks,
Michael J.

PS I'll keep searching in the meanwhile...

Ok, BMC REALLY needs instructions with pictures! I appreciate Slick Rick's link to the muscle site and they had Great pictures!

It was easy to install and as of this mornings run, works great.

HOWEVER, I now have a check engine light! This was not there yesterday before the skip-shift eliminator install!

Anyone else have this?? :(

i cant stand this feature. it really sucks when your starting off slow up a hill in traffic (and theres alot of hills around here) it wouldint bother me so much if it werent for that, but it bogs down way to much. I need one of these little magic workers you speak of.

I plugged it in between, just like the pictures indicated. It was very securely connected and I used a tie to keep it steady. So, didn't do anything out of the ordinary :(

The skip shift feature on our Camaro is 75% more user friendly than those that have been on our Corvettes. But, at any rate I hate it and I installed the skip shift eliminator this morning.
