Yes, you'll notice on the newer clip the part that will actually goes in the a pillar is now metal with a better mechanism that will hold the tab that slides into pod almost like a spring clip. Also the part on the pod is metal and don't wear out. So when you snap it onto the a pillar it will actually pop into pace. Here is a photo I shot showing the tabs I'm speaking of. Notice I also flocked my guage pod. Hope this makes sense.

I have to swing by the Toyota dealership across the street today so I may as well pick one up (or order it). I double check and verify that GM part# 11611258 is the new style while I'm there.

Had a pillar pod setup on my last car and encountered the same problem, alot of heat generated that close to the windshield. May or may not be the problem?

Heat may be a contributing factor to warping over time, but mine has fallen off since the day it was installed.

I am interested to see if this works. I have the same problem, but I have a 2012 with the newer clip pictured above. I have also tried 2 different Autometer gauge pods and both had the fitment issues. I almost feel like the pod is made just a bit too big because even when I hold it tight, it doesn't fit as well as the factory part. I hope this fix is legit, because I am tired of seeing daylight behind my A-pillar!

I haven't had any problems with mine. I'm not sure I did anything special either... maybe just luck of the draw. I was pretty careful with those clips and I have only installed it once. Both gauges are AEM.

There's probably a few out there that just happen to fit but the majority seems like its the same problem. I'm glad I started this thread so hopefully all of us with this issue can get it resolved.

That's probably why... the early 2010's had the infamous A-pillar clip problem. Even the stock ones wouldn't stay on.

My Autometer gauge pod has no issues either.

I never had a problem with my stock one but then again I'm a 11/09 car. I ordered a new clip at work today so hopefully I'll know by the weekend.

Probably the extra weight of the gauges and all. Good thread..

You get that clip ordered I'm curious to see if it works. When I removed the stock pillar I just threw out the factory clip and picked up one up from the Cadillac dealership same part number as the zl1/ss/ctsv still doesn't hold so I'm not sure the problem with mine.
