No commercially available systems, but yes, it has been done as proof of concept.

But yea... if the pressure was increased to >14.7 psia, then I can see how reverse flow would be a problem.

also, could you explain the nitrous part a little better? I am not familiar with nitrous at all. Are you saying that the pressure is not increased in a nitrous system? ... just the combustion chemistry?
Correct. Nitrous is injected as a spray (liquid) into the airstream. Pressure increase, if any, occurs after combustion.

To make it a little easier for you to see how volatile this would be, think of injecting Liquid Oxygen in. BOOM !!!

Very cool in theory, but crazy in a practical application, hence Nitrous and/or FI.

Great question. You're definitely thinkin' - there must be a way to make my Camaro faster!!...
Remember, oxygen (pure gas and LOX) does not 'explode' it just combusts at a very fast rate. An insanely fast rate in the case of LOX, and the combustion rate plus heat released causes what you saw. A sufficiently fast and precise injection system could be made to work. Maybe not in a reciprocating type system, maybe only in a turbine one but it could work.

And the colour is pretty nice also.

How 'bout a Comprex Pressure Wave Supercharger?

A supercharger that is powered by exhaust gas pressure waves?
