All this talk about forced induction got me thinking...

I was thinking roots style
Can anybody tell me what kind of power could I expect running 5-6 psi on a 396 big block?
And I'm open to any input such as centrifugal vs. roots, or what brand makes a good s/c.

Eaton, Magnuson are good manufacturers.

as far as centr vs roots, I personally prefer positive displacement s/c's such as roots or twin screw over negative disp style such as centrifugal.

as for a 396, you could get a weiand 6-71 or 8-71 and have a ball.

what kind of internals does the motor have? what kind of heads? what power is the motor making now?

It has stock internals, not original, but OEM
Ported/polished original heads,

But I could swap all that out if need be, I have $7,000 to work with

Yes technically it can be done Detroit Diesel has been doing it for 20 plus years on the 8V91T and 6V91T. Those are 2 stroke diesel engines. Deffinatly possible. The cost would be astronomical and the gains wouldnt be there. A engine can only handle so much boost. If you ran both you would have to run 3 psi on the blower and 3 psi on the turbo..... so there really isnt a point to it. But it would be a great conversation piece
