The dealer may and will most likely take pictures of your engine bay and they also check your ECU for any "tuning" done to it in the past. That information is sent to GM and they have the final say so in the matter. That was my scenario. But then again, I didn't have a pulley installed, just Roto Fab, separate clutch reservoir. This particular scenario with the pulley fits the "if the aftermarket part caused the failure" clause that some use.

I was told that the 120K warranty still applies after the service
Picked mine up last night - runs great and no alignment needed.

It really doesn't matter to me if they won't, but I would venture to guess that because it is happening to these cars stock it would be hard to deny.
My car was doing it before mods. when GM said this was normal and acceptable. I couldn't prove that to them nor would I try because I willingly modded my car fully aware of the fact I could have warranty denied as a result.

Depending on which dealer you go to, it should not really be an issue. You stated the obvious, the stock cars are doing it also!

Took mine in today to replace my second supercharger. While starting up to show the noise, the supercharger seized and tore the belt off the pulley. It had started making a whistling noise on the way to the dealer this morning, guess the bearing just disintegrated on the way there. Lame.

So recall or not, new supercharger for me. Really hope they got this thing worked out this time. Superchargers shouldn't be consumables...

Took mine in for the supercharger noise and they checked it out, then the service guy came and asked if I wanted to have it changed out that day, I said yes and that I would be back in a couple days to pick it up. He then asked if I would like to meet the tech that was going to do the job so I went back in the shop met the young tech who had my hood open, he showed me the test procedure, then showed me the new supercharger. I was impressed by the care they took of my car. I then said I would see him in a couple of days, he smiled and said it would be done later that afternoon, and that if I would come back about 4pm that I could go on the test drive with him. The car performed flawlessly, I told him that he could work on my anytime, now I have a tech that knows me and the ZL1. Great tech, great results. It does happen. Thanks to Joe Jorganson and his service crew at McCurley Chevrolet Pasco Wa.

rvnmaniac, I took it to Heritage Chevrolet on Reisterstown Rd. If you decide to go there, ask for Rob Zopp and tell him Michelle sent you.

I am also from MD and haven't found a dealer that I would trust to touch my zl1. So you are suggesting Heritage? I worked for heritage for 7 years but for VW.

Mine didn't start till almost 20,000 miles. I just had it replaced. I dropped it off at noon on one day and bit was done by 3 o'clock the next day. Perfect now.

Yes, I am definitely recommending Heritage. I wanted to get it in earlier but Rob only wanted his head tech Shawn to work on and he was out for a few weeks so I agreed to wait and I am thankful for that. Top notch thus far. I told Rob I may be sending some folks his way.
