After riding sportbikes, I'm always wanting a wee bit more from my 2SS. I'm not sure I'll ever get it in a car. Perhaps it's due to exposure to the environment, the intimacy with the machine, etc., but a bike always gives me ten times the rush.

Still, both are awesome and I feel very lucky to know that rush.

My last sportbike was a Yamaha R1 and you cannot even begin to compare the rush of acceleration of a sportbike to Camaro SS, they are two totally types of acceleration we are talking about.

I have an FJR (see below). 145 ponies, 99 lb/ft of torque, so in some ways (powerful but heavy), it's like my SS....

OTOH, I probably don't get on my SS as hard or as often as I do my FJR. But when I do, oh man is it sweet....

Glad this thread got some mileage. Great discussions all.

I am way too scared to get on a motorcycle, and can admit it

If you don't have 'the bug', you're better off. Crashing hurts worse on a bike than in a car. It's kinda odd to start the day on a bike, and finish it in a helicopter.

Don't ask me how I know that.....

Oh, and on topic.... I have the speed alarm set at 70 in the Camaro, and a passenger (on a windy two-lane road) asked what that sound was. When I told her it was when we briefly dipped below 70, and then went back up above it she was flabbergasted at our speed....

True story.

So yes, deceptively fast.

We have NO IDEA how good we have it now. Across all the lines. Enjoy it.
In the hellcat interview Jay Leno even mentioned his old (Challenger?) he had would do 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, and got 13 MPG at best. That's as fast as the slowest Camaro now, and we get twice the fuel efficiency and all those other improvements in handling, etc. I'm not even sure why those old clunkers sell for $100,000. lol

I have no issues merging or passing. Seems plenty fast to me.

Ain't that the truth haha

After riding for decades and never getting a ticket or into an accident, I know I'm on borrowed time. Everyone I know has either had a ticket or an accident or both. I'm actually considering finally retiring two wheels. It's waaaay tough to give up, but maybe I can have just as much fun in the Camaro....and using the extra bucks to mod it, etc.

Btw, the last thing I did in my old 2010 before I traded it for a Jeep three years ago, was race/chase a sportbike on a curvy road through the mountains.

I was just curious who would win on those roads -- an experienced sportbiker or the 2SS.

I was absolutely shocked that I was able to keep up with the bike in most places. I had incorrectly believed he would be leaving me in my tracks, but that wasn't the case. Certainly in straight stretches, he could walk away from me, but in the tight curves, I performed much better than I expected. The biggest advantage my sportbike friend had was that he was more nimble and able to pass pesky cars along the way. For me to pass, I had to have a sizeable length of road while he could just zip around the car without thinking.

I had a dash cam to record the entire thing, but something weirded with the battery and I only wound up with about 30%, mostly of the least interesting parts of the road.

This isn't a race I'd do very often, but it was fun and impressed me a bit more with the 2SS's capabilities.

Exactly....

I started out on Motocross years ago then got into sportbikes and I gave those up because too many friends ended up dead some of it their fault and some not.

I would like to go back and by another Yamaha YZF450 but those damn things new are now like $8000...

I used to ride this thing like mad man when I wore younger leathers. Now...it gets fired up once every two weeks and I might or might not ride it. It was ridiculously fast in it's day. It's a 92' model.

I've thought about trading my ZX10 for exactly that bike. Since I just traded off my Jeep, I'm gonna want something to get out into the woods -- a decent used YZF450 might be a good option for me. I'll keep the Camaro for speed and acceleration.....just daydreaming, though.
