I was thinking of getting a motorized plate or one of the manual plate holders. Still don't know how much clearance it gives or if it will withstand highway speeds

For those without the front plates on the car, if it matters at all it will gives cops probable cause to make a stop, and I don't know about you but I don't like getting hassled by cops whether or not I have anything to hide its usually not a pleasant experience, if you can avoid it, don't give them an excuse to stop ya

As long as you are still using E-Tags the front plate can be the dealership tag. Once vehicle is registerd and you have metal plates need to take of the dealership tag.

once, i was pulled over for no front license plate. and once, i was pulled over for speeding and he just verbally warned me and told me to put it on.

note on that time i was pulled over for no front plate i was coming out of a known party, so the lady really just used it as an excuse to see if i was drunk. she let me go and verbally warned me of the plate.

these were both in dfw north richland hills area

havent had any problems yet in austin, 5 years here and my previous truck had no front plate. had my camaro almost 2 weeks and still no probs... hope it stays that way!

I've got a warning ticket, but still won't be putting it on! My neighbor is a cop and he said that this is something that will always get a warning ticket because there is not a fine posted for it - not sure it's true, but still not doing it!!

Coming home just a few minutes ago, I passed a state patrol on a toll road. He was doing slightly less than the speed limit, and I'm sure he had at least five minutes to see that I didn't have a front plate.

Got a smile and a thumbs-up. I waved.

Cops are people, too.

I wasn't about to put holes on my car under any circumstances. I went on ebay and got one that attaches to teh lower grill, works like a champ. no hastle from teh POPO and I didn't deface my car with the stock bracket either. and I know for a fact its go up to a little over 100 mph...... and its still there!

this is outdated...new legislation passed to where the plate must be 'visible from the front of the car'...

if you have it in your dash its ok, as long as its standing up and officers can see it.

I told him it was in the glovebox along with my sidearm,he told me not to worry about it(proof of insurance). They do not like people reaching in to places they cannot see.
