Owned a mustang gt with modes, the sound was sweet, so sweet, i couldn't go pass the law with out being stopped. My 1ss (a6) has the same mods, have been stopped once, can't blame this on the sound. I love my auto. and by the way, it's fast.

My L99 has never told me which way to turn... OnStar does that...

Wow :-)
I was over in Scotland on vacation driving a stickshift car round some very challenging roads - and my son said "Dad - I've just realised why so many people drive automatics in the US - you cant eat and drive a stickshift at same time..."

I never thought of cupholders as essential standard equipment before getting to the US.

On the main topic - net is - buy what you want and what will make you happy. Really now wrong answr here - but it is interesting that modern autos have clearly improved a lot and they will, for sure, give you more consistency in behavior

personal preference. I ordered an auto because I just never have the feeling of "man I miss shifting my GT mustang, or 74 nova SS". With an auto I won't have to shift down while on the freeway if I need to punch it, worry about the wife driving it even though she can drive stick, get tired in LA traffic of shifting, etc.

Some really enjoy shifting though so if you do get a stick. When I was younger I definitely preferred stick. Now I am 42 and going with the auto and a supercharger. That should be plenty of power/speed to deal with any punk in a mustang or ricer that comes along.

Ford F150 has a better looking console.
the paddle downshift blips the throttle.

It's going to depend on what kind of driving experience you want out of the car. If it's your daily driver and you're mainly getting it for style and looks with the occasional mash-down of the gas pedal, get an automatic. If it's your commuter car and you spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic on the freeway, an automatic removes the annoyance of shifting. Nobody likes to row their way down the freeway having to shift back and forth between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd mile after mile.

If it's your fun car and you want to drive; i.e. spirited, performance drive for the sheer fun and enjoyment of the machine... get a manual trans. Straight line: there's nothing like the feel and sound of revving it up, the moment of pause while you shift and then wham...first gear all over again...and again...and again. Listen to the videos posted by companies showing the sound of their exhaust mods and hear the difference between automatics shifting; looks like beer, tastes like beer, less calories, less filling.... and then listen to the manuals shifting; a good, solid pint of stout. Sound and feel goes to the manuals.

Twisties: manual trans rules. Driver is in full-attention mode; no burgers, drinks or cell phones in hand; driver is driving. Your choice of gears when you want it as long as you want it; throttle control over cornering stance without the trans shifting on you at the worst possible moment; being able to use engine/trans/gearing as a braking assist for the really tight twisties.

Yes I know you can put the auto trans in a specific gear and hold it but it's not the same; gearing isn't the same in an automatic. It doesn't drive the same. It may be fine for F1 but they're not driving the same setup you are on the street. On a street car, a manual trans is going to rule in the twisties. However you'd probably want to get a better shifter like an MTI Racing six shooter or something along those lines if you plan on doing a lot of that kind of driving.

Auto trans is heavier if that matters to you.

So you see it depends on what you the driver want to experience. Don't worry about what other people think; match up your choice to your expectations and desires for the type of experience you're looking for...motoring (auto) or driving (manual). Both are valid, both are great.

LS3 offers more engine modifications in the long run
L99 is not a true 2008+ 6.2L C6 Corvette engine
