Some of "US" might have problems with our leg or legs and can't drive a manual transmission for long periods of time. YOU know due to serving our country and losing a leg or having some triple A in your legs from when your plane got hit huh? I learned how to drive a standard transmission in the late sixties when I was very young. For some of us having an auto transmission is the only way we can have a camaro. Sorry I get upset at norrow mindedness
Thank you for you service anth331.

I see you left out a drink. If you have a manual trans, having a drink in their cup holders makes it pretty hard to shift normally, or quickly! I guess they are fine with an auto.

Motortrend got the 2013 1LE to 60 in 4.2 seconds, which is pretty freaking quick

As I understand it, in a 0-60 run the regular SS and 1LE have the same 1st/2nd ratios

Well I have to say there is not a heck of lot difference in a manual and a auto. I learned how to drive with a manual. They didn't have autos then. :-) Now I drive a auto because I let car do all the work. My son drives a manual and loves it. I have a 2012 45th Edition Camaro 2ss/rs. My son drives a 2013 2ss/rs with around 600 hp and that was dyno tested. Now his will run circles around mine but I still love my car. It has enough power for me but I'm older than most here. At about 135 mph things start happening too fast for me. :-) When you get older you will find that an auto is a lot better than a standard. Call me lazy or girly or whatever but I still like an auto.

Where are the irresponsibility police on this thread. I talk about passing someone on the interstate and everybody is freaking out, but it's ok spill special ketchup on the leather. Where are folks priorities?

I learned to drive in a standard and to this day I catch myself wanting to hit a phantom clutch pedal and shift the auto "stick" then have an internal dialog to the effect "what the hell am I doing" LOL. the instinct is still there but the arthritic knees thank me often

Yea my argument being if you're a talented driver you can probably get close to those times

"does the automatic SS trim really have 26HP less than the manual?"

Yes, the L99 really does have less horsepower than the LS3. Lower compression, and a different cam as mentioned are major factors, however this doesn't mean the L99 is not a performance engine and automatics can be dialed in to be very quick and on many occasions run quicker ETs with less horsepower, because of traction.

On our chassis Dyno we routinely see 25 RWHP less for a stock L99 over an LS3 SS Camaro.
