I'm sorry that you had to go through this. I went through pain trying to get mine even after it actually came in and was sitting on my driveway with a loaner car agreement in the glovebox. The financing at age 22 with 2 cars and a home is difficult especially with the 'econ trend'. But I did whatever I could. I bought and I have a few cosmetic mods done already. With all this said I think te guys who tinted it chipped the steering wheel's leather wrap. It isn't a bad scuff but I know it being even slightly torn will cause it to come completely apart in a year or two.

I won't go as far to say that I got the better car...as they are two very different vehicles. I'm happy with the Z...but would have been happy with the Camaro also.

I'll just bide my time until "Camaro Mania" subsides and then I'll purchase...maybe by then I'll have dreamed up a reason for having seven cars for two drivers. Right now I'm pushing it with six!

Yes it does, but the Camaro "scratches the itch" totally in a different way...
Have both cars and LOVE them BOTH, but for two entirely different reasons...
Hard to explain, can any other Camaro/Corvette owners help me explain how we can absolutely love to drive both cars, but the driving experience is completely different, in a good way, for each car???

I think that anyone that has both can relate to what I am saying...

Don't lose sleep over those dealers they will be available on lots sooner then we all know. Just don't be a stranger to the Vette and turn it into a garage queen, drive it like meant to be driven.
That's how I feel. I just wonder why Corvette guys are even bothering to touch a Camaro, unless they are wealthy and have garages of performance/classic cars and want one for their collection. For the average Joe that can really only afford 1 or 2 cars and already having a Vette in your stable doesn't really explain Vette owners' insatiable appetite to own a Camaro. I've seen this post paraphrased by at least 100 other people on this site. Always the same yearning where it isn't warranted. This gentleman speaks about waiting for the hype to calm down but the "hype" is what is motivating him to order one and then complain about waiting. Honestly, do yourself a favor and don't buy a Camaro because you will be thoroughly disappointed and then we have to hear about it not meeting your expectations. Feels like a broken record.

Where did I say the hype was motivating me to order one? I've watched this car since day one, just as I did with the Trailblazer SS. I don't buy cars on hype...if I did, I'd be broke. If I bought on hype, I would have dumped my '95 Formula for an LS-based 4th gen when they came out... I purchase cars that interest me and that I will enjoy driving for 3 years or so usually. To be honest, I wish the days of cheap leasing hadn't gone by the waysides as I don't put that many miles on a car and I like to trade out of them.

Why would a Vette guy want a Camaro? I want something that I'm not worried about driving in what little ice and snow we get here (I've driven the vette in the snow and ice, but it isn't my favorite thing to do), I also want something with four seats (same reason I bought the Trailblazer SS...), I'd also just like something fun as a daily driver. Would I be disappointed in the Camaro? No, because I wasn't disappointed in comparing my 95 Formula Firebird to either my '96 or '02 Vette. I wasn't afraid to put headers, 4.11 gears, CAI, short-throw shifter, and other mods on my Formula...never would do that with the Vette as I know that I'll want to resell it some day. I still own both firebirds that I've bought...haven't kept any of the Vettes. They are each fun in their own way.

Why is it troubling that a Vette guy would want a Camaro? What is there to be disappointed about with a Camaro that I'm not seeing? Is it as fast as a Corvette stock to stock? No way. Does it handle as well? No. Will it have all the quirks of everyother GM product I've owned over the years? (this isn't a slam folks) Yes.

So what is it that is bothering you about Vette guys that want a Camaro?

Her words are, "a car isn't a value proposition, get what makes you happy."

Maybe not a "value" proposition," but in the correct context, it is an expensive proposition, which would make her statement irresponsble.

Irresponsible? Just because I'm not buying a Prius or a Honda or a Cavalier? Did you sit down and run the numbers on your Camaro...how does it make ANY sense in the realm of RESPONSIBLE? Just curious...
