^^this
Though imo a 70 1/2 is just as beautiful.

The 5th gen ZL1 12-13 Camaro is one of the best looking Camaro built next to the 69. The 6th gen looks like a Lexus.

Could not have said it better myself. The 12-13 are what a modern Camaro muscle car should look like. When I started looking for mine it had to be a 12-13 or nothing. I like the 6th gen but it just does not give me the muscle car feel.

The bass mouth front looks too much like so many of the new Asian vehicles. Don't get me wrong, those a very nice cars but they just do not give me the old American muscle care feel. It's all good! To each there own. Just enjoy what you drive and be safe.

Peace

Completely agree.

The back seat area is the other issue I have with the 6th gen Camaro. From all accounts it's pretty much unusable. The back seat area of the 5th gen is certainly nothing to write home about, but at least it's serviceable. If I'm going to consider essentially a two seat car, I feel I'm better off with a Corvette Z06 and the extra weight savings and performance.

The old ZL1 is a capable car, but the next gen' with the alpha chassis and better engineering all around is going to be a road course monster.

If you're a 1,320' guy then yes, very little reason to upgrade to a car that weighs less, has better cooling, purpose-built steering wheel, next gen shocks, can handle better, stop better, record track footage, etc.
So true, at least for me. I love blasting through some twisty country roads on a regular basis, but I'm more of a 1/4 mile guy at heart. With that said, I do think the 5th gen ZL1 suspension is on the soft side with a little too much body roll and understeer, so I upgraded accordingly. No doubt the new ZL1 will be a track monster, but I'm curious on the price. It just may be higher than we're all expecting.

I just fired up the ZL1 and let me tell you, there is no buyers remorse. The new 2017 should not be viewed as a superior car. It is different. They are both unique in terms of looks, engine, exhaust and feel. Those owning 1969 zl1s certainly dont have buyers remorse.

Wow! A lot of great replies but like many have said it comes down to personal choice. I recently bought my 2014 ZL1 and it is the "coolest" and badest car I have ever owned and I have owned a few even a 2009 911 TT 6M...I think my ZL1 has a lot more character and attitude (which an American muscle car should have) and so I have no remorse. Plus I can easily (as others have stated) go way pass the 2017 HP cheaper and call it my own build! I see pro's and con's when I compare the Gen 5 to the Gen 6 but I am keeping mine!!!

You must realize there are people who's job it is to make you feel that way. Enjoy what you have and buy what you can at your OWN pace.

While at the dealer for an oil change I had the opportunity to look at the new Corvette Z06. They had 3 of them on the lot, and two were sold! Beautiful cars. I also had a glance at the new Camaro SS. They are all good looking vehicles and will sell to some happy new owner of course, but I am happy with my Gen 5 edition. I finally have a car to modify to my standards of handling, and looks. To be totally honest, I am happy with mine and have no desire to trade in or sell it. If I want more horsepower, I can easily mod the engine.

Without the 5th Gen ZL1 there would be no Z/28 or 6th Gen Zl1....

I think years from now the 5th Gen ZL1 will be as sought after as the 69' Camaros.

Just my .02
