I remember Top Gear doing a road test on a new Z06.All Clarkson could say about the car is that it had leaf springs.he then implyed the the car was cheaply made because it had leaf springs. He seemed annoyed that the Vette did so well on the road test.As far as the new camaro,im sure when they road test 1 they will try to rip the car apart and tell us how bad it is,and then tell everybody that they cant believe that anyone would want to buy this car.Typical.

I've thought about this a lot before. I think Jeremy Clarkson will LOVE the camaro. He likes simple cars that are fun to drive (VXR8).

I've even been thinking about the American version of Top Gear driving it too. It would be perfect timing since they are coming out around the same time.

Are we forgetting that Clarkson has a 3rd gen and loves it? Hammond is a lot less bashing and enjoys cars more I believe, but Clarkson is just brutally honest, and exaggerates. I think the overall review would be more entertaining from clarkson, and a little more honest and closer to reality if Hammond does it.

I think anyone from Fifth Gear would enjoy the camaro as they're mostly unbiased. Then again, the Z06 won Fast car of the year from Fifth Gear as well. Tiff = God btw.

That was the entry-level Vette. I remember which episode you were talking about. Hammond drove it, and when they got back to the studio -- that's all Clarkson could say was "Leaf Springs?!?"

BUT! They did the Z06, too. And Clarkson absolutely loved it! Except for two things: He claimed it was undriveable on the road, and the Nav computer defaulted to Fast Food joints. "Typically American".

Other than that, he went from 0-160 in 5th gear, he outran fire, he skidded the crap out of it, and compared it to an exotic, highlighting the double in price that the European car demanded for the same performance.

I really think Clarkson actually does have some deep down affection (if only a little) for American stuff, but of course like many Brits and Euros it would just kill him to admit it. I picked up one of his books while in Oxford and all the American car reviews go basically the same: An intro explaining why everything in America sucks, a review of the car that starts out hyper-critical but eventually admits there is just something about it that's pretty awesome, then a face saving conclusion stating that while its good, it really isn't because everything American is rubbish, ahem.

Its like the British/Euro version of the macho culture. No matter how you really feel, you just can't show affection towards anything American.

My bad.I remember watching both videos.I must have gotten then mixed up.That being said he did take a couple of shots at the Vette before the test drive began.Really, what could you possibly say bad about the Z06.If you want to get anything close to the performance of that car, well then your going to have to pay twice the price just to get close. The Shelby GT500KR is roughly the same price as a Z06.Its just my opinion, but i dont know why anybody would buy a overpriced Mustang when you can have a Z06.Can i get a Amen...lol

So, all the digs against the "Zed" (ahem) 06? Are they legit? Does it really not drive well off the track?

And the crack about the steering wheel on the "wrong" side? What's that got to do with anything???

Damn fellas, its an entertainment show. They "bash" American cars in a humorous way to get higher ratings and frankly the "bashings" really aren't all that bad. We shouldn't take it personally if a foreign car show hosts prefers his own country's cars to ours.

Just saw the episode with Hammond driving his '67 GT350 and a new GT500 the other day - he definitely has some nostalgia for American cars. And Clarkson had a Ford GT that he was drooling to get for months, so he's definitely not opposed to all American cars carte blanche, even if he had a ton of problems with the Ford (like that's a surprise ).

I agree with others above that they'd find the Camaro generally 'unrefined' and 'crude', but overall I think they'd like it. But I think the Stig could pull a nice time, and they'd respect that. They'll probably crack some jokes about Americans and poke a little fun at it, but be generally positive.

Oh, and Clarkson would never say 'garbage' - It's rubbish, of course! :P

But see I'm not scared about what they would say about the car the car is going to be great with the base v8 having 400 horsepower and it is has IRS so it can go fast in a straght line and arond corners and have cylinder cut off so great gas milage and the car is great looking so I don't think they will have any complants
