Okay, long story but here is where it starts.
Bought the car in November, just wanted a car to build never had any horse power goals in mind. Found a great speed shop locally that did the long tube headers, reduction pulley, re-geared the diff. To 3:91 with a trutrac ended up when they got into the rear end all the bushings were gouged, had to completely rebuild the diff. There wasn't even any fluid in it. Then after a mustang gt gave me a hard time I decided to put a cam and heads on it. The speed shop was out too far so I had a local shop put the cam, heads, and a 2800 stall in it. I had to go back to the shop 4 times after the build as the main power wire was place to close to my headers and burnt through, the Pvc system was routed incorrectly, the tranny was 3 quarts too low, then I blow the oil cooler out. I was getting email tunes from a very realible ****r in the Carolina's. Then I decided to go all out and drop the lsa in. I went back to the original speed shop and they bolted all in no problems. Got another email tune for the lsa and the car ran like crap. The speed shop said I was lucky I didn't blow it up on my way back to them. Their tuner flies in once a month for a few days. He said the tune was junk and started from scratch. When all said and they worked on the tune until 3 am in the morning and the most the car would put down was 476 rwhp. The belt was slipping at high rpms so the next we put a new belt on. I drove off and an hour later the motor went. That 476 rwhp also was on e85 and a carbon fiber drive shaft. I think the motor was hurt before the new tuner touched it and we just finished off with the boost. I have a lot of money in the car and am trying to put a good bit of power down. It's kind of hard to blame it on one thing or one person. Once the motor and tranny are done before I get on it at all I am going to try to have someone look at the tune. As I really can't afford another motor after this one for a while. |

Now I know why cars show up at my shop on trucks every week from all over the country for me to mod/fix/repair. I cannot imagine giving a customer a car that is not perfect.
Customers always know what they want but rarely know what they need.
