Blown motor after lsa and tune

So this week has sucked. The tuner showed up to tune my car after an lsa install
30 minutes after leaving I dropped a valve and tore the hell at of the # 8 cylinder. Just ordered a new 408 ci striker block from tsp. I hope this I can get more than 50k miles on this block. I am not blaming the time or tuner but the car hit 8,000 rpm between 3-4 gear. Then 10 miles later it was done. I just don't want this to happen with the 408 ci block.

I had the car towed back up to the shop before the tuner left town and he said it wasn't possible that the rev limiter was set at 6200 rpm. So idk, I am not blaming him, I know what I saw on the gauge I am just nervous now about the same thing happening on the new block. I had one shop install the cam and heads and wasn't happy with there work so had another shop do the lsa blower, e85 flex fuel and the carbon fiber drive shaft. They believe it goes back to the cam install, again not blaming anyone but really blew my weekend plans to hell.

I'd go to a new tuner next time....
One with a real shop and a dyno. I'm sure there are plenty of reputable shops near you.
Members will chime in with suggestions soon I'm sure.

Or learn to tune yourself. Best thing I ever did. It takes a lot of reading and time studying until you get it...but it's worth it and you realize how long it takes to get it nailed perfect.

I have started to learn it, but need a lot more time to get it where I would feel comfortable tuning a car I have this much in. The 408 ci block should be a fun build. But I don't think I will be ready to tune it myself by the time it's done.

Sucks to hear that but I've been through this already. When my 6l80 gave up it lost a gear and the rpms went really high. Probably 8k too. Put in a th400 but the motor wasn't ever the same. Now my motor blew 5 and 7 cylinder. After a long wait it finally shipped. A forged 376. Hopefully it'll all be worth it. Hang in there

WOW you ordered a stroker from TSP. WHY? There are WAY better options
What is so special about this engine?

Nothing special about the block. It was between the 408 ci, 418, or the 427.
The 427 was a little bit more than I wanted to spend. The 418 wouldn't hold as much
boost/max hp for what I was told. So the 408 was the best choice for the set up I already have. Nothing really special about any block, but it should be a hole lot stronger than the ls3 stock block. What would you have went with? I have dealt with tsp in the past and they offer great support. Every 408 ci block I looked at and priced was with $600.00 of each other

Yeah it sucks but you have to pay to play. I only know of one tuner in nc/sc which is pcm of nc but they are always 3 months out from being able to tune it

ERL Performance the only one I would run. There are tremendous differences between blocks, how they are machined, sleeved and the material they are made from.

I will admit they have some nice blocks but their 408 ci says it's rated for 600 hp moderate. With everything going on the new block I will be well over that at the wheels. It maybe I am miss reading the rating. It is the same price however I paid for the tsp iron block
