Tires for the SS are Perelli, I dont know the rating. Don't qoute me but I think they are 9 inch meats on the back tires

They did not talk much about the V6 tires

No problem.
(A question to ask for next time, possibly?)

I've never hit my "limiter" in my 02 Z28 or in my 02 SS...and I've been up to those speeds.

I'm assuming you mean electronic speed limiter? My neon was rev limited a little over160mph. (Gauge only went to 160 but needle would go a little past that. In 5th gear it redlined at 6500rpm which was about 162-164mph. This is a Neon for crying out loud....the Camaro BETTER be able to beat that.

Stock SRT-4 top speed was 155 @ 6000 rpm. Not positive though....my warranty was void a couple months after purchase lol

The only speed I'm really worried about is in the 1/4 mile time. Top speed isn't that big of a deal to me because after 110-120mph you will have already won or lost a dragrace on the track.

I've pegged out my camaro and know it was above 165 because I took my foot of the accelerator and it took a bit before it started falling. so yea. limited. . .lol.

I will say that this camaro will be limited to at most 165. . .

A tune(handheld type) won't take long at all, and custome tuners should have no problem right out the block!!!

I calculated the approximate aero-drag on the Camaro and that puts its upper limit at 180-185. This is roughly equal to the speed at redline in 5th gear.

During the web chat that took place on the day after the unveiling with Chief Engineer, Al Oppenheiser, I asked him this exact question and he responded that yes, top speed would be electronically controlled, but he did not specify at what speed.
The transcripts of those web chat sessions, plus more questions that were not addressed in the 1/2 hour time allotment should be up on the chevy.com/camaro website within a few days...

Best regardSS,

Elie

well depending on what Tires they come with it be limited to that. unless it's Z rated then I'd say 165.

One thing to keep in mind... I know it has been discussed some, that any mods to the ECU may void the warranty. No idea of how little or much they will let you get away with, if any, but something to keep in mind as you plan for the future changes to your Camaro.

FYI, the speed limiter is there to save your life...unless you are putting on better tires on the beast then there should be no reason to mess with it. Darwin will help you out if you plan to remove the limiter without changing tires.
