Not just GM.

Toyota's Scion division has just one engine option per model. Seems like they just build them one way and then let the dealership rake in the cash on add-ons.

When the Fox body Mustang was introduced, it had an N/A 2.3 L4, 2.8 Cologne V6, 3.3 L6, 4.9 (302) V8, and a Turbo 2.3. By 1987 there were only two engines. The 2.3 and the 4.9 (Ford calls it a 5.0 to avoid confusion with their inline 6 cylinder 300 cu in truck engine). Ford's been pretty good about keeping at least 3 engine options since then. I hope GM follows suit.

I won't get my turbo ecotec Camaro. I'm pretty certain of that. I'm coming to terms with that. A 260/300 hp V6 will do. All I ask is no more 2.8/3.1/3.4 V6es please. Getting beat in a Camaro by a doofus in a Civic Si with half the displacement is not acceptable.

My 1984 LG4 powered Firebird made all the right V8 sounds and would easily go sideways from a standing start when floored. But it was not a muscle car.
150 hp.

I can see some of your points regarding V8 and V6.

As stated previously, if you want a V8 w/o the badgind, it can always be removed.

As for a V6 Camaro, there's no shame in a V6 Camaro IMO. Especially when that V6 out-performs alot of V8's currently offered. As for your "wheel issue", I'm certain the aftermarket will offer something similar to waht you're looking for.

I'm pulling for and keeping my fingers crossed that Chevrolet sells ALOT of V6 Camaro's. Its future may well depend on it.

I'm still not clear on the complaint....

You want a V8 but you don't want an SS? Is it the SS designation that turns you off? Is it the body kit? I read every post the OP made and still couldn't put my finger on what bugged him about the fact it was called SS.

Although I see you liked the RS package. I'm gonna assume you meant the SS body kit turned you off..

Also, on the subject of Z28 v SS. The SS used to be the badass car for the street. The Z28 had the 302 which was a high revving engine with more aggressive suspension tuning. Perhaps not as quick in a straight line, but when it came to all out performance, Z28 used to be top dog. That's where they're coming from now with the SS being the entry V8.

I don't care really... all versions of this new Camaro are going to be in musclecar or supercar HP range... The V6 gets 300+ hp (310 according to edmunds) and the SS gets over 400HP. if the Z, or whatever the possible SC camaro is going to be called, really gets the LSA it'll be in Supercar territory! it is time to change your thinking of what is a muscle car... it is no longer a Huge V8 that gets crappy MPG. it is now a V6 or even a 4 that gets huge power more efficiently than some huge V8 from the past. Think V6 musclecars and V8 supercars hell the GT-R is a supercar with a 6 in it!!!
