Car companies always release newer versions of the same thing, even if they are to add another color to the car's saloon + 15 more HP.

BIG DEAL.

It 's always nice to get the most recent version out, but I will not w8 more than I have to thinking like that. Only time I 'm gonna spend w8ing is for the car to come, then to test drive it and then to check up close and personnal as many colors/interiors I can even if it means travelling all around the neighbour cities visiting the various dealers.

Olny thing I am going to w8 for is if it takes too long to make up my mind and then a Z28 version is about to pop in a few months. Oh yeah baby I am w8ing for that

Ask any engineer.
Generally, the main reason not to buy anything in its first year whether its a car or a dishwasher is that they will still be fixing and developing things while they are rolling off the line. Parts will be accepted under deviation to be replaced with the "approved" version 6 months into it, etc. Do you think that a few parts not being exactly right or problems with certain suppliers would move the launch date?.... Something this complex will never have everything ready when its "go" time and things will happen that people aren't happy with and can't do anything about. Just look at the reverse lights, HUD not ready, backup assist not ready, Z28 not ready, and that's just the "visible" stuff.

Sure there is something fun about having the first one on the block, but you get to be the 'explorer' and discover the things that will get corrected later.

Yes, buy the first year. The Camaro needs to be successful immediately upon release, and after the first year they get rid of options and features that people didn't want...but they may well be stuff that you wanted.

Well, considering the reasons why GMAC and Chrysler are getting out of the leasing business, I'd say some consumers really made out well on their leases.

That's what was thinking! Hell I'm buying mine first so all of you that want to wait, will get the chance cuz sales are high in the 1st year. Without us the Camaro doesn't move forward. Think about it.

Btw, I bought my dishwasher the first year it came out and 10 years later, it still works fine.

I am getting one as soon as I can. My birthday is April 8 and that's my gift to myself. Berger Chevrolet in MI. is going to offer packages like they did before. Does anyone remember the 2000 Berger/Dick Harrell SS? I know I don't want to pay over MSRP but for a one of thirty Berger SS camaro the $50,000. might be worth it. If I can't get a Berger then I will still be at Bigelow Chevrolet on "opening day" to get mt Black on Black 2SS/RS. If you want a HiPo Camaro you can always contact GMMGinc. They build the cars for Berger and you my save a few $$$$

I too will be waiting until Feb 2010 to see how the first year goes and too see what else GM will offer for the car. I am extremely happy with my '97 Z-28 and want to get the money out of the mods I have installed on my current "Z" (400+bhp). Can't wait to get the new one. ")

I think the big issue is expense. Most options that are added later can be done with the aftermarket or by swapping parts. For example, if the door inserts or interior panels look different one year, you can always paint, swap, or fabricate your own.

The biggest issue is what you can afford. How big can your payments be? Do you want to pay in cash?

Even if I had the money next spring I wouldn't buy it. I'll test drive it in any case, I have to do that, but not buy. I want the HUD and I'd really like the rear parking assist, because I suck at parking and don't want to scratch my paintjob on the car. I would like to have the Gen V V8s in it as well, but who knows how long it will be before they are out. In all honesty, if I have the money to buy it in the spring of 2010, I will.

I'm not too concerned w/ first year run cars. If there's a problem, that's what the warranty is for. As soon as I am financially ready, I'm getting the 2SS.

SHOULD you!?!? That's rhetorical in nature.

I WANT to grab a first-year SS. But can I? Maybe. If I do, I'm sure I will probably be tempted to trade it in for a second year, even if it is at a loss.

It all depends on IF the first year is purchased at MSRP or lower.

Read that last sentence again.

THAT will be a deciding factor for many, I think.

But, I've not been known for "wise" financial decisions in the past......

I'm probably going to wait unti; June, 2009 and buy from Graff in Grand Prairie, TX. They seem to be the only dealer around Dallas that treats anyone with respect. My family has been buying cars from the for a long time. If they mark it up past the MSRP, they they lose me, and my family. My mom always buys her Malibus from them.
