I've had mine installed since thanks giving. None of the issues you inquired about. Minimal side to side play. The adjustability of the shifter length really helped me dial it in for ease of shifting. Excellent shifter. I had another popular brand but switched to this one.

I've only had mine in for about a week and it just keeps getting better. Tom692010, I'm glad you brought up the side to side play 'cause I have the same thing and thought I did something wrong. It is minimal and definately not a deal breaker. I do have a slight rattle in 2nd and 3rd gear under heavy load but I read in a Hurst thread that you can wrap the shifter rod, linkage, and shifter (under the boot of course) in Dynamat and it seems to do the trick. I will be doing this early next week so I will let you guys know if it helps. All things considered, I think this is the best shifter for the money on the market right now.

You wouldn't believe the side to side play I had on the other vendors shifter I had installed. This is absolutly much better.

Hey Tom - can you explain the side to side play a little more on both shifters? is it when in gear , a particular gear..... ? I only have about 200 miles on that other vendors sts and have no play at all. I do have a slight 'ringing' in 2nd at WOT but that's it. I'm going to put the OEM stick option on it this weekend so I can install my Barton knob. I'll have to post a pic when done.

Mine was done this morning. Instructions were plain and simple. Some tips:
1. Remove the exhaust brace toward the back of the heat sheild and the two lock nuts that hold the heat shield on and slide the heat shield toward the rear of the car. this will give you more room.
2. Grease the entire fitting that has the 2 black o rings, this will help when pushing it all the way into place.
3. Very easy install. Follow all of the recomended suggestions and you will have no problems.
As far as feel, It is super tight. Gears are very close together (I put my shifter almost all the way down). I will likely raise the shifter handle a few more turns. The only noises I hear are the actual shifting noises when putting into gear, it is much noisier now. Maybe after I raise the handle a few turns it will get better.
The only concerns I will have now will be the longevity of the shifter (whether it will last for a long time.)
Thanks Dave @ barton for an excellent buy.

sorry it took so long, pretty busy. When in any gearyou could wiggle the shifter quite a bit. With Bartons almost none at all. Slight but I really don't think it can be approved any more.

Yeah, I think that's as good as it's gonna get. Besides, I think whatever play is left has more to do with the tolerances in the shifter linkage than the shifter. It might just be more noticable now since a sts takes all the "slop" out of it.
