I’m just thinking they’re crappy pads tbh. I did initially get scared that I might’ve gotten air in the brakes or something, during bleeding, but that seemed to not be the case. I did bed them in, and you could smell the brakes and brake fluid boiling, as well as see some hot spots on the brake rotors. It was still a pretty terrible first 250-300 miles or so though. Braking distance was terrible and a lot longer, but nowadays, I just have to brake harder to get the braking I need.

Neither of my setups have ever “shuddered” or vibrated or anything like that, luckily. My Brembo setup has squealed, but I figured that was normal since they were bone stock and have been on the car for over a full decade or so. The only thing I’ve always been confused about is “glazed” brake rotors… I have no idea, since some brake rotors are real shiny (with some “grooves” seen by the eye), yet they brake pretty decent still. I actually never checked my factory brake setup until after installing the new Wagner pads on them.

I’m running Motul RBF 600 or VP Racing 622, so those brake fluids certainly help. I figured braking harder instead of dragging out my brakes would be better. However, I definitely notice less braking “power”, as in the “bite” the brake pads have against the brake rotors. I also notice the brakes to fade a lot quicker than before.

The Purple caliper grease in the link I find to be to sticky for slide pin applications, I have always liked the stuff in the links for the pins and even the back of pads,

The Hawk Pads you have should be quiet and are a good pad I ran them for years on my daily drivers.
More performance orient brake set ups may squeal but that is normal, The pads you have are designed to be quite.

Thanks for sharing that info. On a side note...I ordered new pins and clips for front and rear since i read they need to be replaced every 30-70k miles... I have not replaced them in the 8 years I have owned this Camaro. Will see how that goes with the purple lube and what happens with Detroit Axle... worse comes to worse.. I will order the Brembo brand rotors as a replacement since I am now getting mixed reviews on Detroit Axle.

Update: Detroit Axle is sending me two new replacement rotors for the fronts due to the squealing. I should have them in 3-4 days. Will apply the purple lube on all of the pads first before I get these rotors just to rule anything out and keep the new ones as backup.

Rotors aren't the issue, the pads are vibrating causing an audible frequency. This is why GM put these on the pads, which is one way of fixing it.

I see. My pads do not have those skates.

GM also put wheel weights on the caliper to dampen the noise. I think this was a TSB.

I don't have either on mine with zero issues, on SS set up and ZL1 set up. I typically put a thin layer of anti seize between rotor hat and hub. That's more so it doesn't seize on there when I change them next time.

This is where you apply the anti seize, on the very ends of each pad and where the caliper piston will contact the pad backing plate.

If you don't know what you're doing, do some research.

If you have it on the hub behind the rotor, you don't know what you're doing.

You misunderstood completely. If you read my past posts in this thread carefully you will note that I have the CRC anti seize on the BACK of the PADS. I ALSO have the Permatex antiseize on my hubs as well when I installed the rotors 2 months ago.

Nothing should be "on your hubs" nothing. The back of the rotor and the hub face should be clean metal to metal.

Up north I. The rust belt if you don't put a little bon the hub and rotor hat you may find your self having some issues getting rotors off. Now I don't on my Camaroa because they don't see any kinda weather but daily drivers good luck. A 1 ton truck with seized rotors is no fun. There is no harm putting some between rotor and hub.
