Ok so lighter wheels(do-able), lighter race seats(do-able), seat delete option(I would just pull them myself). Now we are getting somewhere. What else? Don't be scared guys, lets hear your thoughts!

aluminum body seems smart, I'm not as confident in a cf dash but still making progress.

Leave the A/C, put in racing seats and a roll cage, remove the sound deadening, put in carbon fiber wherever possible, leave the LS3 as the motor but with a different cam, Long Tube headers, extremely low restriction exhaust, close-ratio 6 speed, dual disc clutch, heavy duty suspension, Ultra High Performance tires, light weight wheels, upgrade the brake system even further, toughen up the drive line even further, don't forget the tranny and oil cooler upgrades!, and have the option to delete the sound/nav packages. That would be a good hommage to the original AND would probably bring the Z/28 close to, if not higher performance than a stock GT500... ESPECIALLY at the track!

That's at least a little subjective isn't it?

If the title had been "what is the definition of a Z28?" My answer would have been much different.

Cmon Mindz, If those of us in the Z28 camp haven't proven that we would welcome back the tradition of the original Z28...

I think it's pretty clear we'd all be quite content with a touring Z28 like the Gen 1.

There's only 2 people that voted that after the very heated debate, and I was just pointing out that fact. =) I hope there will be more
I never said we had to rename the poll (who wants a Z28 vs. Who wants a GT500 killer), did I. I was just pointing out that it was a huge majority right off the bat that I feel just wants a powerful engine and say they want a Z28.

If you're alluding to my thought process, then I'll say it so there's no confusion. I'm curious as to:

How many people that are in the Z28 camp actually want a heritage Z?
How many people want a higher hp engine and think the Z's the last nameplate possible so you're routing for the Z even if it goes against the heritage?

I'm not upset or irked at anyone. I just want to know who's on the bandwagon and who truly cares for it. This has been a very touchy subject and there's many people just along for the ride. Pardon if I seemed to come across in any way other than how I have just explained.

I want an LS3 manual, and I want it at a price comparable with the mustang GT. Dont care what you call it, or what its names history is, anything that gives more than that is far beyond my price range unless someone waves a magical wand and the superbeast camaro whatever is less than 30k...

Wpw. if I were going to pay for a Z28, I would expect it to have AC, stereo, etc. If I wanted to drive around a stock car I'd go to Topeka or something.

I think the Z\28 should have a little more power than the SS,but be lighter. Honestly the ls3 has plenty of power so if they would bump the Z's up a little and strip it... id' be happy. I want to keep the heritage, but I don't think GM will opt for stripping they will just blow it and keep all the bells and whistles.

550 hp +. Whatever its name. I guess Z28 would be the right one

Not voting because my choice which is widely known is not on the list.

But to restate it simply...
Heritage wize the Z-28 is a road course warrior, NOT a DRAG CAR... so if a Z were to return it should take over the slot that the SS is now occupying, with a few more suspension upgrades to make it handle even better.
If anything the SS should be bumped up to the Lightweight Drag car with the highest HP engine you are able to stuff between the fenders..
