Yes they do...thank goodness they offer a V8, now.

No, I was thinking more along the lines of a turbo 4 cyllinder...or a 200hp, NA/Direct Injected 4-banger.

It wouldn't be a race car...but it would be a spirited, efficient car.

If its after 2016 It's gonna have to make 35 mpg or something like that, right?

So maybe we'll see an Uber-Ecotec that gets 35 mpg and still outperforms whatever engine Ford puts in the Mustang.

No, that number is still a fleet average. General Motors must achieve 35mpg. (actually, I think their specific number is 34.1)

SO...Cruzes and Equinoxes (which, irrc, get counted differently due to being a truck/SUV), Volts, etc will all raise that average so cars like the Camaro and Corvette (who can't quite meet it) can exist in the fleet.

That said, efficiency will still have to be improved from one generation to the next, as that's an internal goal for the company. And the Mustang comment made me laugh . Good one!

I had a 5 cylinder four wheel drive Colorado before my Camaro. Awesome little truck for offroading. However it had absolutely NO get up and go to it lol.

That's why I'm confident we'll have V-8s well into the future. I see the 2015 Camaro, on a smaller platform (300-500 lbs lighter) with the direct injection V8 that's supposedly in the works. They could probably get 27-28 on the EPA test, while still improving power:weight.
