After 1,500 mile break-in period is over & I can rev engine above 4,000 rpm's, I'll try 93 octane again.

I never pushed my car over a 100mph during my break in period but I never paid any attention to the 4000 rpm's

BTW Conoco 93

I use to fill my 85 Z28 3/4 of the tank with 91 octane and finish the fill up with 100 octane. "Ess" is due to have her first shot of 100 next week I'll be doing a fuse pull before and after. Hoping, "Ess" defrags her old ways.

93.....nothing but. i don' understand buying a performance car and runnng lower octane, when we all know our ss will only run it's best at 93. we spend almost 40 grand, we knew 93 was required from day 1. no excuse for cheaping out. if i couldn't afford it , i would sell it before i abused it.

Better octane keeps LS engines clean. Clean valves, intake cylinders and piston tops improve performance. No build up means that you don't have to burn "garbage" that has deposited on the intake valves and piston tops. These LS3 engines have direct fuel injection which means that your fuel injector is aimed at the cylinder. Garbage builds up from the intake PVC (very fine oil smoke/humidity mixture). Humidity depends where you live. Keeping oxygen sensors clean which is the last sensor to leave your LS3 is important which is the key to smooth performance. This is why we need an oil catch can on these puppies. The "cats" have their function (emissions). The resonators (not needed)

Ultra 94
Developed with driving enthusiasts in mind, Ultra 94 has the highest octane of any gasoline in Ontario. It’s higher octane helps ensure you get maximum horsepower, acceleration and performance from your vehicle, even under tough driving conditions.
