I had the MRT 1.0's and funny thing is that there was extreme drone at 2,000 RPM. The MRT paid spokesman on this list who made in cabin videos didn't capture the drone that I heard.

It appears that 1900-2100 RPM is the magical number where drone appears for most aftermarket.

I went back to stock and am loving it.

hmm so let me get this straight...people want an agressive sound from their exhaust but complain about hearing it in the cabin? maybe im used to having modded cars and this "drone" everyone is talking about is somthing new to them. I have people always asking about drone...and i always say "what drone?" I just dont see how people do a muffler delete or get an exhaust and dont expect it to be louder in the cabin

There is a definate difference between sound inside the car and drone/resonance.

My Corsas on the G8 were noticeable in the car under moderate load and cruising, but not loud or throbbing. ie no drone. I was very happy with the overall sound both inside and outside.

I think that other posters have it right - if you don't want any interior exhaust sound then you should probably stay stock.

There is a difference in the exhaust on these two. I rode in Kdbolt70's SS with muffler delete and did not hear the drone. There were points you could hear it, but nothing that was like the loud noise I heard on Efpardo's Solo Exhaust (v6 auto).

Kdbolt70 has the manual transmission. So if you have auto, the different pipe size might be the cause of this problem.
LS3. As far as I can tell they used 2.5.

Perhaps it was. I would not deny that possibility. The initial muffler delete and xpipe install work was crappy. When X-pipe was removed it help ALOT. BUt I am thinking Flowmaster Series 40 is the issue. I think they are made that way and where never designed to elminate the drone.

Funny thing, I have not seen a proffesional video from a manufacture that shows cruising at 1900-2100. When you see videos like Borla Atak, the in cabin segment show them shifting through 2k quick then shifting all above 2000 an gears above 1 (thats what I remember anyway). I would like to see manufactures videos that show cruising at 2k.

I see some people do not realize the difference between drone and exhaust cabin noise. I just did a quick search and found this. I think this guy is saying the same as some of us here.

I agree some poeple like the drone or are used to it and therefore never realize what there hearing.

I found a couple of videos that demonstrate drone. Its the humming sound at cruise (around 1500-2k rpm). Speakers with good bass will allow you to hear it much better since the drone is a low frequency sound. The second vid you can really here it at 00:11s of the vid. Thats what I hear constantly at those RPM ranges. Its really loud. Imagine play that video at that time slot range (00:11s) with speakers on each ear, non stop. That's what it sounds like in the car right now.

Like I said, I gave the muffler guy a taste of drone and he could stand it, "thats really annoying, it hurts your ears". THis was an "exhaust" guy.

Anyway thats what I hear.

Cool

Dude...Just get electric cutouts like Noweeds exhaust @ www.noweeds.net.

You get the best of both worlds. You can also customize your sound to your liking at a press of a button. My system during car cruises are head turners, at stop lights--All mustang owners are like "WTF?? I didn't know a camaro sounded like that?" And last but not least, I get to turn off the dreaded "DRONE" as I pull into my driveway and not piss off my nieghbors. By far this is one of the best investments I made. If you are gonna drop $1200 on Corsa, Noweeds is $200 less (without installation of course). Myself and H3LLJumper have it installed and we love it. Check Youtube for yourself.

I'll add that on my custom Magnaflow cat-back, I get no drone. I believe the Magnaflow mufflers are made to be more on the quiet, deep tone side.

You will like the Corsa Cat-back, no drone.

She will seem tame until you give her the foot, then watch out!

Ok, that Youtube clip was tough to listen to.

There's always one in the crowd.......................................

I like LOUD too, Drone is different, its a frequency that just goes thru SOME people. It bothers the OP and myself and some others.

I replaced everything from the manifolds to the axle (LTs, HF cats, x-pipe, stock muffs)... no drone at all. Quiet at idle, loud at WOT.

GM did an awesome job with the stock mufflers.

like NYG71, I suggest cutout or diverters... that way you can shut it off when your cruising.
