He was robbed. I hope it is overturned and he is given credit, but even if that happens he lost out on enjoying that moment...

To make him feel a little better GM gave him a Vette today....That should help a little

Nice but I still hope to see him get his much deserved spot in history.

Umps error

I had the same thought. This would be up to the official scorer to call it an error. If I were the OF, I would take the heat as clearly, there was no error.

These calls are not reviewable through replay, but someone could have, or should have, discreatly told the umps, before the next batter, that the replay showed the ump was completely wrong.

The 2nd base ump and/or third base ump (both of whom should have seen the blown call )should have called an umpire's conference and then the 1st base ump could have reversed his call doing the right thing while saving face.

What a shame! Nobody wins.

Not a huge baseball fan, but you really hate to see this happen!!

Hopefully Selig's arrogant ass will do the right thing, and award him the perfect game!!

Here's his statement:

Quote:
Major League Baseball released the following statement Thursday afternoon from commissioner Bud Selig:
"First, on behalf of Major League Baseball, I congratulate Armando Galarraga on a remarkable pitching performance. All of us who love the game appreciate the historic nature of his effort last night.
"The dignity and class of the entire Detroit Tigers organization under such circumstances were truly admirable and embodied good sportsmanship of the highest order. Armando and Detroit manager Jim Leyland are to be commended for their handling of a very difficult situation. I also applaud the courage of umpire Jim Joyce to address this unfortunate situation honestly and directly. Jim's candor illustrates why he has earned the respect of on-field personnel throughout his accomplished career in the Major Leagues since 1989.
"As Jim Joyce said in his postgame comments, there is no dispute that last night's game should have ended differently. While the human element has always been an integral part of baseball, it is vital that mistakes on the field be addressed. Given last night's call and other recent events, I will examine our umpiring system, the expanded use of instant replay and all other related features. Before I announce any decisions, I will consult with all appropriate parties, including our two unions and the Special Committee for On-Field Matters, which consists of field managers, general managers, club owners and presidents."

Way to go, Bud. You didn't disappoint. Act like an Ostrich, bury your head in the dirt, and hope it goes away.

I'm done with baseball, seriously.

Well this might help him get over it a little quicker.....

Having some "class", sometimes pays off.

Seriously............. I totaly made that decision long ago.

I feel bad for the pitcher but I LMMFAO at all the people, including the decisionmakers, who vote against IR. Keep the game 'pure'. hahahaha ya right.

What's pure about a pitcher who gets screwed out of the history books like this?

MLB Baseball SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you look at the play, even the Indians player was in shock after that call. But he'll take it because it benefitted the Indians. Can't blame him for that.
