Great video, found myself leaning into each corner. It has been far too long since Camaro participated in road racing and Team Stevenson is awesome

X2... Now when are we going to be able to get a 1/18 die-cast of your beautiful Camaro so we can add it to our collections?

Matt, Thanks for posting good luck in the next race. Some will be at the GM Nationals this weekend but will be sure to take the time to show our support by watching the race. Again good luck and looking forward to you next post.
Lord, I pray as I race today, Keep me safe along the way. Not only me, but the others too, As they perform the jobs they do. I know God, that in every race, I, the driver must set the pace. Let not my desire for more speed, Warp my judgement and turn into greed. From green to checkered, guide me through. Giving me strength to know what to do. Remind me often in the race of life, How to cope with all the strife. Help me accept the wins I may receive, And all the defeats, most graciously. Ride with me, don't allow me to lag, Guide me all the way to the checkered flag. Blackhawk6 "Terry"

Every time I turn my back this forum EXPLODES with more and more Camaro race fans! That's fantastic!!!
MJanowich, you are very right, the modern Sunoco Camaro doesn't get most of the original Trans-Am treatments like acid dipping. Our Riley-built car has minimal modifications, and unlike our GT cars, when you pull the skin off, it's still a Camaro. The engine is COMPLETELY stock. We get GM Performance LS3's straight out of the box and bolt them right up, no extra parts or tweaking. The suspension is a spec Koni setup. The transmission is completely stock as well with the exception of the flywheel and clutch which per the rules is still quite a heavy part. We were allowed only to upgrade the front brake package and are still on the original rear Brembo setup. So as you can see, this is very close to a normal Camaro, very few modifications are allowed. I said it before, it is amazing to take a hot rod Camaro, tweak it slightly, and be competitive with these leaner marques that were built for road racing! Phantom.5SS, I actually had no idea where those signatures had come from when I first saw them in the car. It's so great to see that the transaction has now come full circle and we meet (virtually) again! When I first sat down kept reading, "tame the snakes... What?". I can't comment on a model, but it would make sense to make one, wouldn't it? It's sometimes hard to convince manufacturers of such things that a product will sell, but maybe the support on this site will push someone in the right direction! Keep posted on CamaroMerchandise.com and on here! Thanks to everyone else who has been super supportive of our race efforts. Once again, you all are what make racing both possible, and enjoyable for everyone who beats themselves up working or racing a new Camaro. The Camaro fans are second to none and make it worth all the hardships that go along with developing a new car. |

Matt, I had the fortune to meet you and the team in the garage on Saturday at Mid-Ohio as part of the Camaro5 team you hosted for the tour and meet/greet. I then watched you race from the pole and battlle the #61 Mustang. It was a great day!!
The #6 Camaro looked like a war machine out there and on these in-car videos - chewing everything up that gets in the way. Too bad about the front sway bar. I could see where you had trouble keeping the car settled and on the line you wanted but you never gave in! You and the team are so gratious and open to your fans. I am so appretiative for the opportunity for the interaction and the great day of racing. Go get 'em - that win is right there in front of you for the taking. Oh - I forgot to add while in the garage we got a full , up close look at the #6. These are amazingly stock for being full race cars. For all my fellow LS3 drivers out there - in these videos you are seeing and hearing a basically stock engine (including stock air box with baffles) and drivetrain (same stock gear ratios in the Tremec) through srtaight pipes to the rear bumper. Plus by the rules thay have to use a sizable restrictor plate on the front of the throttle body. Just imagine the results if that poor air starved LS3 could be allowed to fill its lungs! |
