I feel bad for the sucker who buys that V6 manual you redlined multiple times.

No hard vs soft break in arguments please.

Yeah, I was concerned with that when I went to buy my Camaro. Thankfully, when I test drove mine (Merely an M6 LS) I noticed it only had 5 mileage. I put 12.5 miles on it during my test drive, and when I went back two days later to buy it, the car had 18 mileage. So, all but 5.5 of the total mileage on my car was put on it by me. I'd dare say that 5.5 was from the manufacturer to the shipping truck, and the dealers moving inventory around the lot. I was probably the only test drive my Camaro ever saw before being purchased. So I got lucky I guess.

I would watch for that though if you buy off a lot like I did. If it has very many miles on it, it may have already been put through the wringer once or twice before you got to it. Who knows, maybe I was extremely lucky that the model/color/transmission/and mileage of mine all matched up to what I wanted right off the lot. Definitely something to think about for those still looking to buy.

I have the LS3 and my husband has the L99. We each love our cars. Its a personal preference.

That said... hitting the rev limiter is no excuse to buy the L99.

A slight adjustment in your driving technique and this car will provide all the fun you want.

I had the auto in my c6. Regardless if an auto is quicker at the track because of consistancy, it was boring as hell. Anyone that will argue that has never driven a stick. Keep in mind you don't live at the strip, so who cares anyways. If you dumb enough to street race, most races are from a roll and not a dead stop. Off a roll with a good driver the auto will lose to a M6. Get the stick. My 2 cents.

No need to cut off you sack, that is what us auto drivers hold on to when we drive. The stick driving guys.... well.... they have to make up for the lack of it somehow don't they?

I don't think I did damage since the rev limiter did its job and kept me from hurting the engine. Don't tell anyone but...... I've owned a SR5 Toyota pickup, a Tercel, a Supra, a Maxima, a BMW, and a Ford F250 that were manuals so I have some experience. However, I managed to stall the car at a light-not once but twice. A little embarassin. Gladly the guy behind me was patient and not on his horn. It was fun to shift through the gears. The paddle shifters weren't bad but I hate that the buttons are on the steering wheel. They should have put them on the gear changer.

I'm getting excited about gettting my car. I'm looking at a lease so I doubt I'll be modding the car. That really sucks. There is a chance I may get a 2010 with low miles. We'll see. I've been seeing some 2010's 2-ss/rs with low miles advertised for 29-30k. However, many are way overpriced since you can get a 2011 with a roof for about 37k.

Good point. Also, it's hard to put the moves on the ladies with your hand on the stick. I think it's suppose to be the other way around. Auto guys may have that part right.

Did we really just post track times with 2x as many LS3s present? If you have an abundance of LS3s at the track with substantially less L99s, I would imagine there would be MORE LS3s posting times...not rocket science, just figured this was common sense. Guess not...

Am I missing something? How is it hard to not hit the rev limiter.. When you are in a Manual transmission car, you are in complete control of when you shift?

Day to day driving you really shouldn't be tach'ing that high anyway.

Sure it happens from time to time, but for you to think this would be a common problem, really just says you are unwilling to learn how to drive a M6 correctly.

Not being rude. I personally don't care which on someone has. If you have a 2010/11 SS you've already won most races. lol... But the Manual is a much better driver experience (IMO)

What's interesting on all the other car/trucks I owned I never hit a rev limit. Maybe those cars didn't have them...I'm not sure. I will be driving the car hard from time to time but for everday driving I should be fine. I guess I'll be watching the tach when i want to launch the car.
