I understand what it is, I meant I prefer traction. Thanks for the interpretation.

When I was your age, we used to call it "powersliding"...

In a front wheel drive car I'd call it..."Out of control."

Personally, I don't see the point of "drifting".

As for Chevrolet's involvement, hearing talk that they may cut back on their involvement in NASCAR, I seriously doubt GM will get involved with any other racing series.

Yes that's very cool! But it's gymkhana, different from drifting. He's just showing off...Very well I might add.

I see a lot of comments from people who don't like drifting and that's fine. But you cannot just call it out as "powersliding." You really have to look into how well these cars are purpose built to do this, so many things change. And the skill of the drivers that do this is incredible. The drifitng technique is very similar to how rally drivers drive. I implore a lot of you to really look into this more closely and I think you'll come away with a better understanding. Some people could say all drag racing is just punching the gas at a green light..... how hard could it be?!
You tube Rhys Millen in his Pontiac Solstice GXP. This guy is incredible.

Drifting is powersliding, drag racing is hitting the gas at a green, Nascar is 'go fast, turn left'. Soccer is kicking a ball and running. Golf is whacking a ball with a club and walking. Acting is pretending to be someone you're not.

Just because something can simplified down to 1 or 2 things doesn't mean its easy.

Impressive. The guy on the Segway is an idiot! I could never trust any man/machine combination to not hit me, no matter how good the driver is or how purpose-built the car is.

For the purpose of staying involved with motor sports, regardless of the type - drifting, nascar, drag, I think every manufacturer should be involved at some level always. If they don't, their vehicles are reduced to simple people-mover status and they lose any credibility with enthusiasts who like to go beyond commuting to work.
