The impact tests are different. Motorcycle helmets are designed to take impacts from flatter surfaces. Auto helmets must pass test with the helmet striking pillar like objects i.e. A pillar and cage bars and have fire protection.

IMHO, if you are going to buy a helmet for these events go ahead and get the Snell SA2010 rating instead of the 2005. The way I understand it, in 2015 the 2005s might not be acceptable for use. Since a 2000 rating is "no good" now.

Here is a segment from the Snell website about replacing helmets every 5 years.

"Why should you replace your helmet every five years?

The five-year replacement recommendation is based on a consensus by both helmet manufacturers and the Snell Foundation. Glues, resins and other materials used in helmet production can affect liner materials. Hair oils, body fluids and cosmetics, as well as normal "wear and tear" all contribute to helmet degradation. Petroleum based products present in cleaners, paints, fuels and other commonly encountered materials may also degrade materials used in many helmets possibly degrading performance. Additionally, experience indicates there will be a noticeable improvement in the protective characteristic of helmets over a five-year period due to advances in materials, designs, production methods and the standards. Thus, the recommendation for five-year helmet replacement is a judgment call stemming from a prudent safety philosophy."

Cool, thanks!

Updated the OP. Class specs are in the OP as well. If you don't see your name under a class but at the bottom of the list, that is due to not knowing your mods.

Remember; stock is stock. CAI puts you in modified. Engine internal work, S/C, T/C bumps you to Super Modified.

ZL1, well, that's in a class all by itself.

Oh no... well maybe when we put it up on the Jumbotron so everyone can see it and the streaming video to Camaro5 and Speedvision It is a fair bet you won't be the only one. My cars are all magnetized for plastic. I don't understand the physics behind plastic magnetism, but what other explanation could there be for those cones clinging to my car at the AC
