Every LS engine is made specificly with the same motor mounts, same bolt pattern in all areas including transmission, same basic scaling, everything on those engines is made the same for the simple reason of making them all interchangeable, also most of the electronics work on all the engines too. Really all you gotta do to swap an LS engine out for a different LS engine is pop one out, slide the other in, change the chip to match the engine you've swapped in, tune it, and thats pretty much all there is too it. GM builds those engines specificly to work like that. Also the Camaro's transmission will handle the power of any LS engine save for maybe the LS9 and will definatly bolt up to any of them. After that the rest is unecessary to change, suspension doesnt matter to what engine is in the car as neither does the safety equipment etc.

I mean yeah engines today are a lot more technologicly advanced but they're really not as complex as most people think, especially when it comes to engine swaps. In fact GM boasted somewhere in an article about the LS7 Camaro that any average Joe could order an LS7 and have it in his Camaro in just about a weekend's time, and if any average Joe with average garage tools can do it that quick im sure a dealer can.
He's not talking about specifically bolting up one LS engine instead of another. Thats probably the easiest part of the whole operation. Its everywhere else that causes problems for GM. The suspension does matter when you add 100+ lbs over the nose of a car. Safety equipment might not change, but safety ratings still need to be made. The stock transmission may handle 600+ hp ... but GM has to warranty it for 100,000 miles.

I didn't mean to do that at all. Sorry if I came off that way!! :(

You just said a few things made to sound like "absolute truth"...when they're very easily debatable. I apologize.

Mystery Z28 that's not a Z28 at all but a movie-car. Right. Back on topic.

Hmm it says your from Oshawa, Canada......

This guy knows what he's talking about.

ON a side note, the LS/1,2,3,6,7 should all weigh about the same right? Only the LSA and LS9 should have a significant difference because of the blowers.

If I was GM, I would be messing around with everybody until they were just about ready to explode before I released this baby. When they do make them, how many do you think they'll build a year? If it's like the GT500, not many people will get their hands on one.

I don't expect they'll limit the numbers...the plant isn't exactly "tapped", yet. And the Camaro never was a limited production car. But - I think sales numbers will be completely dependent on the price they set. I'll bet $45k-50k will probably sell in slightly-higher-than-GT500 numbers...and anything more expensive will see a steady decrease in demand.

If they put the LSA in and do all the upgrades to the powertrain to handle that motor, I will be amazed of it stops at $50k. I hope your right on both points about production and pricing, and I want one right now. I called my dealer today that I bought my SS from and he claims it's a go for sure. I don't know if he was just blowing smoke up my ass or not.

I don't go to work at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive or at Oshawa Car Assembly

I honestly don't. I am an automotive enthusiast with a mechanical engineering background who has paid attention to what actual GM employees have said about the process of bringing a car to market. If I did work for GM, I would let everyone on the site know, and I'd probably have to shut up about a lot of things I speculate on.
