The point I was trying to make with what dealers should know is that they have other cars on their lots right now that are more important than the Camaro. BUT I will agree that they should know more about all their products. I have discussed an excuse that they could hide behind for the next couple months. But I doubt that many will be particularly well versed in the Camaro by the time it arrives at dealerships.

I now forget my original point.

Where exactly did they promise 3.73 and HUD in 2011?

I thought they did with the 3.73...could be wrong, though.
Anyways, I assume you're implying that they're going to do more 'stupid' things. I disagree; that there'll be more changes, and that what's going on now is necessarily negative.

fbod, thank you so much for your information! It truly is appreciated.

I wouldn't expect everybody to guesstimate for me, but if I placed a custom order for a 2SS R/S and the dealer said I was #7 of his 15 Camaro allocation, would it be possible to be one of the first cars to roll off of the truck when production begins. I placed a pre-order with 1K down a few weeks ago. I hope I'm not going to have to wait until October as some dealerships are reporting. Purchased the car at Hawthorne Chevrolet in Hawthorne, NJ. If anybody can provide me with how my scenario might pan out, that would be awesome. Thank you kindly!

I know very little about car manufacturing, I just didn't think it would take them from march to october to manufacture and ship 10k or so cars.
So does this mean they're planning on manufacturing all the cars and ship them out all at once in oct? Can't they steadily ship them out to dealers as they are created (starting in late march)?

Yeah, that's what they'll do. That's what all assembly plants do, build a few hundred cars per day and ship them out, then build another few hundred and ship them out.

I think I read somewhere that Oshawa will take a little while to cycle up to full production or something.

I STILL WANNA KNOW WHERE CANADA FITS INTO ALL OF THIS! If we (Canadians) get the shaft and receive our cars after US gets their cars first, I think we are going to have to invade you americans and bombard you with giant snowballs thrown from our igloos Fbodfather any input?

It's 20,000 cars. Ignore what has been ordered as of now as the full allocation of 20k will be completely used up.

they aren't, but they are too

Confusing right?

Dealers have cars that are allocated to them. It will be roughly a 1:2 ratio of SS to V6. The manufacturing plant itself in Oshawa has no restrictions as to what can be built in what ratio. The workers and robots don't really care. All factories produce product at an essentially consistent rate, a few highs and lows but month to month is fairly close. So Camaro production in June will be about the same as Camaro production in November. The same hold true for parts suppliers. Brembo will be producing brakes at a fairly constant rate. The transmissions will be built at a fairly constant rate. So will the suspension, wheels, engines, front fascia, and everything else that separates an SS from a V6.

The cars built get sent out in batches. It makes little sense to hold 10 000 pre-ordered cars for 4 months at the factory. It makes equally little sense to send the cars out 5 at a time. Dealers are being allocated a particular number of SS's and they will take time to produce, for the above mentioned reasons. So the first ones will be ariving in the spring. The last ones (of the pre-order) should arrive in the early fall, thats how I interpret it anyway.

I am not an expert in this subject but this is my best estimate on how things work. Anyone who can correct me, please do so.

I almost forgot, there will be a lot more than 10k cars produced. 20%-50% of the Camaros produced in the next few months should be SS's. The majority of these will be used to fill pre-orders. The rest will be V6's for lot duty and as regular orders, and possibly a few SS's to sit on lots.

We were told that Canada would be bumped a bit, mainly because its expected that few Canadians would be buying a car like the Camaro in March/April because of winter. No idea how the change in production start date changes this.

Fbodfather confirmed that more than 50% of the early builds will be SS's to more closely match what has been preorderd.
