I had to take one star away as a penalty for the production date. I though for sure it would be available in late Q3 or early Q4.

It has most of what I was looking for. Suede seat inserts, suede steering wheel, functional hood ducts for thermal management, improved dif for less slip in high G turns and some things I wasn't expecting short throw shifter, beefier tranny and dual mode exhaust. The biggest surprise is the repositioning of the rear sway bar mounting points closer to the wheels. This is a huge improvement.

The red and black is perfect for Pedders. All we need to do is accent the tail lights. Paint the rear lower fascia to body color. Up front we'll add a black 'shelf' under the headlights and paint the splitter and lower grille to match the finish of the OE strip. We add the Pedders logo and the ZL1 is visually ready.

The engine is a pulley and tune away from what we need. We will remove the mag ride control after testing and replace it with our Supercars. That will be an interesting day at the track. Next up will be a full bush kit. Maybe new diff bushes will be needed? A new rear bar is a development must. Our goal is -- to be 2 full seconds faster with the ZL1 than we were in our SS on street tires AND match the ZO6 T1 Race car times on slicks. We will do this just like the last time around -- no cage, no triangulation. It will be a daily driver will all the amenities, but FASTER.

Electric steering sounds interesting also

2 seconds faster... At Gingerman??

Stainless manifolds? Hmm... Like ZR1/Z06 or tubular-style, like that other pony?... Hmm...

Thermal management is huge. We lost at minimum 75 RWHP at Gingerman from heat soak. The OE air flow will be much cleaner than with an aftermarket intercooler stuffed in front of the OE cooling units. The heat extractor hood will reduce under hood temps. The stainless exhaust manifolds are there to reduce under hood temps. I like everything I see so far.

We are counting on actually having the power we produce on the dyno on track. The improved rear differential will help put power down in the corners. We'll run a two piece rotor up front, the Brembo CTS-V rotors should work, and duct the front brakes. If the suede seating isn't suffcient, we'll install a 5 point harness. Combined all these little things should give us the cushion we need.

Add to that improved mounting points for the rear stab bar... we'll try the new OE tires and wheels, but my guess is our square 305/30/19 setup will be faster. As you can see, I can't wait to get my hands on one.

I hear the CTS-V used optional coilovers for it's record breaking 'ring' lap, those supercar coilovers might be just the ticket.

...Speaking of 'ring lap times...

You know...it's becoming easier to say....ZL1....

The more I think about it...the more I like it. NOT because I think it "fits" any better than Z28, I don't and still stand behind my arguments and opinions on the subject....but...

It's a new name for a new chapter in Camaro history. Yes...we all know of the COPO cars with the big aluminum engine...but that was the name of the engine, not the car. You (GM/Chevy) took a myth and a legend out of Camaro history and made it real.

So, #3

Does it feel better to finally be able to talk about the unicorn? It must be like a giant bowl of bran, only for your brain.

Yes, yes it does.

Of course now that we can acknowledge that it exists..........the next secret is what it can do.

Haven't read all of the comments today but I haven't seen much on the upgraded interior.

From the pictures, I see they have fixed my only complaint about the car.

The steering wheel. When I did a road trip through Canada and down to Yellowstone and back, I was driving like 8 hours at a stretch sometimes and my hands were just killing me. The 2010 steering wheel just wasn't comfortable at all for me. Form over function.

This new one looks a bit more.... ergonomic friendly.

The suede touches to the seat, shifter boot and dashboard look pretty sharp

Every one of my minor qualms have been changed to my great pleasure!!!

The gauge readout...the needles, the dashboard, the shifter, and the general "darkness" of the interior.
I liked the stock wheel and shifter, but I definitely like the replacements, too.

My only question is what replaces the suede accent panel when the option is not chosen...leather? plastic like the doors? It'll be interesting to see.

Like it alot. Since you asked specifically about the interior here are my gripes: no Recaro option (at least none mentioned so far), no built in nav/hdd system (it's my 50K+ and I would like it to be in there), would have preferred that the silver painted plastic be replaced with metal pieces, and lastly though the red stitching looks nice, I would have preferred that contrasting inserts be used. However, none of these nitpicks will stop me from giving the ZL1 first chance to take my money.
