Used this to install an OEM leather wrapped wheel with controls in it. Great DIY! Thanks for all the info, now just to get the controls programmed. Also does the bolt that holds on the steering wheel have locktight on it? It looked like it might have but I didn't put any on when I put the new wheel on, should I put some on?

Good evening everyone,

I have been following these threads ever since I bought my Camaro this year in April. Love my car!!! I went ahead and installed the PDIM thanks to you guys and got it programmed. Works awesome...

I decided to also buy the SWC and the harness...installed the SWC but the harness I ordered did not bring the connector that I need to enable (power) the SWC. It pretty much was the same one I had in stock. The part number I ordered was 92236308 (harness). Now, I know that TECHSUPPORT said to get the harness with p/n: 92236307 but when I went to the gmpartsdirect website I looked up both and one had the bluetooth feature and one didn't. Since my car originally did not come with bluetooth I ordered the one without bluetooth. So...can anyone confirm that 92236307 is the part I need that brings the connections for the cruise, radio switch, automatic trans paddle shift... Thanks guys for your help...

JV

They charged you a half hour's labor. I guess that's not bad. It's really only a 10 minute procedure. But, I guess if you count time to pull the car into the bay and get things together, it could probably take a half hour. You didn't get screwed or anything. $50 is fair.

Excellent write up, I did this mod last night and while the airbag was off I was able to paint my trim piece to match my dash and door trim. Thanks again for such a great piece. By the way I am in no way a mechanic but this was very easy to do by myself.

Another thanks for the write-up and excellent photos. My 2LT Vert already has all the controls, but the left "wing" of the trim ring was not seated well on the wheel, and tending to poke me (and annoy me!) while driving.

Not wanting to take it into the dealer for something so minor (and so easy for a clueless tech to screw up), I removed the airbag and trim ring myself, and "worked" the ring and the wheel until the ring "seats" better on the wheel.

Thanks techsupport and everyone else for this great write up. Convinced me to get the controls and the install couldn't be any clearer. Now for the hard part, on to the dealer...

as long as you make sure you disconnect the battery you have nothing to worry about

Would recalibrating and programming the audio switch work on an after-market radio?

Just called about three dealers in Houston area. Apparently all of them charge $75 for the VCI ONLY because as Munday Chevy service rep tells me, "There's a lot of work downloading the VCI from tech support and nothing comes free buddy." It's $85 for labor there too. The dealer in Conroe, TX charges $150 for just the program but he didn't even know adding steering wheels could be done. Another dealership in Houston(Maik Haak I think) said they would do it for $75 for just the install. To install it was going to be $335. Not sure if she understood what I was talking about but that may be my best bet. Haven't seen any dealership from Houston on here that has done the update.
