no whats funny is a little motor with heads the size of a diesel truck that can only make power with a lung bolted on .

whats even funnier is some one paying 60k+ for a gt500 and getting the same interior as a v6 econo bucket.

i cant get anyone to run me ?
i have tried a few ,they just pull of slow .
i havent seen a new 5.0 yet .
i got to ride in a svt raptor the other day , looks like a push rod motor in it.
6.2 liter ,i guess ford finialy figured it out

so when will i get to race an auto 2ss?
an auto 5.0?
just dont seem to be that many that are willing to try a gto, they always jump on the rice around here . but no takers for me .
i know im not the fastest car ,even in my area.
but for what little i have done ,there is not much that will touch it .

Auto 5.0 is faster than a manual, fyi. Have fun getting smoked by that.

And I'd race you any day. I have had fun with stock GTOs, but you can't really find any stock...

I'm sure not many stock cars can touch your modded GTO, but try racing a modded camaro Will walk all over you.

figured it out? i believe that 6.2 is SOHC and is supposed to blow away even the 5.0, so yes i guess they have figured it out

well for just bolt-ons and some home grown mods .the gto is quick.
and yeah maybe a 5.0 will get me ,then again maybe not .
all the 5.0s that i see vids of are doing 5k leaves and spraying at least 100 shot . i dont see the trans or the clutch taking that for very long.
as for the cammaro vs gto im my case im alot lighter than them.maybe even lighter than the stang.
my race weight 3560 with the driver in it .

i haven't seen any gtos owned by racers yet, most are like the older crowd that its just the weekend driver. Would love to race one though.

BTW why is SS vs GTO bringing in 5.slow comments?

you want to race an automatic 2010 Camaro and a 5.0 Mustang with your modded gutted out GTO? The GTO has a curb weight of 3725lbs so to get it down to 3560 with driver means it needed to lose well over 300lbs.

the auto 2010 Camaro weighs 3910lbs WITHOUT driver and makes 400hp stock. That means it weighs almost 400lbs more than YOUR GTO without a driver with the same horsepower yours made way back when it was stock. Its pretty obvious that the L99 Camaro youre trying to pick on will have to have extensive mods to be competitive. Maybe youre just not coming accross any of those Camaros that are modded to that extent and youre just trying to bully the ones who know they cant hang..

come on its simple mathematics

3560lbs w/400hp vs.
4100lbs w/400hp????

plus youre modded??an L99 Camaro would need 50hp in mods right off the bat to race your lightened car, and thats if yours was STOCK.
if your car was stock It would be a good race with the L99 Camaro with the advantage to the GTO, but if you race an LS3 Camaro then advantage goes to the camaro. So these cars are all pretty damned close stock.

i have headers ,a ported stock ls2 intake ,stall, and a tune .as for the gutted part ,yes it is a lot of work, but work is free.anyone willing to put in the time can do it .
and my car gets put back together in a few hours .
i make about 370rwhp.
im not saying any car is better,but there was a blanket statment that the gto is slow ,and it is not . it is a solid ,great riding car ,with great power for a great price.
it it the best car to drag race , no . is it the best car to road race , no.
is it a great road car that does most thing well ,yes .is it a rare car ,yes
will you ever pull up next to another gto at a light and think i wonder if that is a V6 clone ,or a V8 , no they never made a v6 .
dont knock a car you havent driven,now if some one who has had both wants to chime in fine .

but some internet ninja with a mustang comes into a thread about 2 gm cars .
maybe you need some vagisil

But thats besides the point, gutted cars are rattle traps.Youre probably driving around in that midsized car that can only sit 2 people now because you think interior is just there to slow you down.... And whos saying the GTO is slow? its just slower than the 5.0 and LS3 Camaros thats for sure but i dont remember saying theyre slow.anywho youre trying to turn this from a GTO vs SS thread to YOUR MODDED GTO vs. SS thread. A thread hijacking if i ever saw one.
and no i dont sit there and wonder if a car has a v6 or v8, usually different variants are easily identifyable at first glance.
