Give it a rest, #23.

Pay attention to the content and comment on that; I assume that you agree that proper brakes everywhere >> proper grammar & punctuation anywhere.

Ceramics are apt to be a bit more expensive than standard replacement pads.

Never mind that a car with better performance than the Trans-Am race cars of the late 1960's has no business being fitted with $40/axle mass-market DIY'er pads.

FWIW, even for my small brakes I'm spending $75 - $130 per axle for performance street or entry level track pads. Real race pads are at least half again as much.

Pete - (but you were being way too subtle)

If anyone is ever really going to track their car I would not reccommend second guessing the engineering of this car or changing to anything else just because of brake dust.

Just my opinion!

As much as I hate the brake dust on this car (the black wheels hide the dust well, though), the brakes on this car are absolutely incredible. I've done some very hard braking maneuvers on deserted roads and was blown away how well these brakes stop such a heavy car with seemingly no effort. I've never been so excited to stop!

I have had Hawk HPS pads on since mid 2010 on my SS, and would not switch back to stock for anything. The car is my DD. The first 6 mo they would squeal on occasion during light braking, but a good stomp makes it go away.

I've got HAWKS Ceramics all the way around....never had any problems with squealing. Best pads I've ever had....especially no dust at all

My suggestion would be Carbotech 1521's. Had them on my C6 Z06 and they were better than stock and almost no dust. Not sure if they make them for the Camaro, but if they do, I'd have them on my car.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, yet...but I performed the brake burnishing process a month or so ago, and I swear the dust on my wheels has been reduced by as much as 50% from before-hand...

Did the burnishing dull the finish and ZL1 logo on the calipers?

Nope. Part of the procedure includes a series of cool-down periods. It's a slow bake, not a quick frying.

Perfect then. The GM manual stated that there could be some of that after effect. Thanks.

If there is, I wouldn't have been surprised...I figure: now, or later...

But I was glad that it didn't happen (at least not that I've noticed) when I did it.
