the car needs at least one "characteristic" for it to be considered a beater.... such as "you have to kick the bumper for it to start", "the car has to warm up for it for the transmission to work" "you have to half the headlights on for the radio to work" etc etc etc
the durango definitely fits this. got a few marks on it and dents. definitely a hole in the exhaust somewhere. while my camaro makes a nice "vrrooom" this thing is more like 'VRABLLLLLVRABLVRABLVRABL"

Do you realize that for just keeping our C5 in a winterless condition what sacrifies we are all making driving car or trucks that we would have never bought in the past.
I bought a 2001 Saturn SC1, would have never think driving such a car in the past, but I'm making the sacrify so my baby won't see the snow. (Excuse my french).

Just picked up a '92 Volvo 940 on Tues, and registered it today. Luckily we've had no snow yet. Still don't have a place to put my baby up, but at least I don't have to drive it in the salt.

Just because you have a winter "beater" doesn't mean it has to look like S**T.

Case in point is "Walter", my '99 Buick Century Custom with 90K and liability only...

Originally my first car, gave it to my brother for his first car and now have it back as a winter beater.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/camaro...o=view&id=7354

- Thermostat/cooling sending unit is shot, so it overheats if you slow down or are at a light

- Power (electrical) is about gone due to the engine (Ye olde LQ1). Power everything still works, though; including the steering wheel controls.

- Rear lamp damage was due to my dad not watching what he was doing pulling out of the driveway. Ball peen and two reefed thumb screws are all that's holding that puppy in.

- Takes 45 minutes to defrost

- A/C sometimes works

- Sunroof was a stupid high school aftermarket idea of mine. Now it leaks.

- Leather only covers about 52% of the drivers seat, the rest is chunky foam goodness.

- Oil stains on the carpet.

It's a winter beater... that is going to get a northstar heart once the LQ1 truly dies (or I kill it).

For the record, though.. SHE IS AN OSHAWA GAL!
