It sounded legit until you said you mix pot and beer.

I usually only let it warm up for as long as it takes to put my seatbelt on and set the radio. Then I drive easy until operating temps are up.

I always try to let the engine settle down into it's normal idle and then take off. I'm usually choosing music at the same time so it's no big deal to me to wait. Though I'm no stranger to starting it up and going if I need to get somewhere.

Initial cold start - a couple of minutes. Warm starts - check gages, seat belt and go.

I usually just get in and go unless the windows need to be cleared off. Then I just wait for the defroster to do it's thing... unless the snow is really thick... then I actually do some manual labor and get out the snow brush.

My dad (the engineer) instillled this in me years ago and I still do it today. I start the car and get all comfy and buckled up. I start off and drive it slow and easy. No full throttle starts or aggressive throttle control and keep it under 40mph till it's up to temp.

I've used it on all my bikes and cars since it got ingrained in my brain as a young boy.

With remote start, usually only like 5 mins. If I start it myself, then I wait until it idles down.

I don't intentionally sit and warm up the car. I start the car first thing and by the time I get settled, iPod on a good song, seat belt on and such a good 2 minutes goes by. In the winter I'll get ready for work, run out and turn on the car and let it warm up (heater) while I get my shoes, jacket, laptop water etc. that's about min.

I think starting a car and 'warm up' has to be one of those long debated 'which is best for my car' things that has been going on since the invention of any device.

Whether it be the Caveman and the Wheel, the Cowboy and his Horse, the Buggy and the Whip, whatever

In my line of work I see this argument about turning on/off or leaving on a computer.

You'll either hear how one method wastes energy/gas or how the other damages the components or increases 'wear and tear'

It's really funny if you look at it in an impartial way. When someone loves their thing they'll always try and figure out what to do.

Yes - That! Else it gets a bit touchy...

Sometimes I hear a soft few clicks coming from behind me somewhere, that's my cue to go...

Not sure what those clicks are in the background to this day. Any one have any ideas?
