I have no problems with the stang. In fact, I do like it very much. I just think that Ford could/should have done better in the performance dept.
Having said that....obviously you're a stang, guy - that's cool - but don't tell me you've never poked at us Camaro guys, just because it's fun....I think it's safe to say that it's become more of a joke rivalry to us here, rather than a bloody, soul-feud.

Hey, hey, why make fun of the mustang, when there's an over weight challenger coming out soon. I mean not that (looking around) I'd ever do anything like that.
Personally I don't have a problem with mustangs, I've had two a 72, and an 89. Thought I agree they need to put more effort into getting more hp's out of their motors and I think that'll change when the Camaro takes center stage. |

Two Challenger jokes I have so far
"That thing was designed with trace paper!" Man,the Challenger will be a ton of fun Actually its gonna be about 2 tons I did this for the challenger because there are just so many ford/mustang jokes that I would get carpal tunnel syndrome typing them all out

Are you kidding me? The SVT COBRA...the "TERMINATOR" is a beast. It would stomp..yes stomp a 2002 camaro ss. Yes, I like the SS, but I don't like the types of people thinking they can go around trashing another car. I mean when you get people that get imports and rice them out or even do it to domestics its one thing but come on. This is down right a joke.

If it's truly offending you, I'll stop...for now
(it's hard to not crack a joke every once in a while)If you read around, though...not every thread is devoted to destroying the Mustang, you know? It's just an ongoing, never-ending, eternally funny, joke-rivalry... I could post up a buwieser/Mustang something, to show you what I mean, but like I said: if it's that offensive towards you...I can lay off (a little). Though I can't speak for anybody else. btw: if it's any consolation...by sig used to say "Fear my Mustang Killer." You see it's changed.

IMHO, this is all in fun...as the friendly rivalry has always been.
FIRST...no one poked fun at ANY member. It was a comment made about jealousy over a Camaro....and selling Camaros in a hospital. Even the Fbodfather himself cracks fun at the competition. Take the picture just sent out of the Chevy truck hauling a trailer full of Toyota race cars for example. Anyone own a Toyota Corolla here that is upset over Scotts friendly banter? I am a musclecar enthusiast first....with an appreciation for a wide variety of cars. My heart lies w/ the General. Do I like Ford? Yup...cause without them, my nights of bracket racing my friends wouldn't exist. Do we crack jokes about "Ford circling the problem?" Yep. Does he crack jokes about GM ceasing production of the Camaro while Ford cleaned house? Yup. Does my old roommate know I'd take his Cobra in a heartbeat? Yep again. I don't hate Fords...if that isn't obvious. Obviously, some people do. For those here on the boards that hate Fords...with a passion...remember that this site welcomes all. In fact, there are quite a few Ford owners here. All of which have my respect. AND...how is it "one thing" when someone rices out an import or domestic? Does that mean it's okay to trash those guys? |

I'd go with imports. However you have to remember that I live in Sweden, and American cars counts as imports
In sweden there's really only three brands of Swedish cars: Volvo, Saab and Koenigsegg. Volvo is shit since they got bought up by Ford, Saab is a nice GM owned brand, but seriously needs new models (the two main models have been going for over ten years now without any major changes and it shows), and Koenigsegg is nice, but way to expensive and not something I'd buy So I'd much rather have an imported brand, like say Chevrolet

Hmm, looks like we've been sent to another thread
Anyhoo. The more I learn about cars, the more respect I get for american muscle. For one thing, I thought horsepower was horsepower, regardless of what engine it comes from. Oops. A 6L naturally aspirated V8 gives much better performance than a small high reving turbo charged inline 4. Why? I could explain it here but this guy does a great job http://craig.backfire.ca/pages/autos/horsepower Go about 2/3 of the way down. But as for Camaro vs Imports vs Mustangs vs Challengers (how did they get left out)? I pick Camaro. The old comeback from the imports was that american cars can't turn, the Camaro will! Maybe not as great of handling as some of those little imports but take 'em to a track. The gains that the Camaro will have in the straights will put it ahead, then it will hold its own in the curves. Same for the other two too i guess. And thats performance numbers. Styling? to each their own, I love the Camaro, mustangs aren't too bad either, Challengers? Like I said, designed with trace paper. And imports, to me most either look boring or ugly, never mean. And to the idiots (commonly called ricers, though there are some who do it to domestics) who make stupid body mods and install boost gauges when there is no forced induction, or shift lights on an automatic, and the list goes on. Well to them, I really feel bad for their cars. To the other import drivers who drive nice stock machines or improve the performance of their cars, I have no problems with. Some are quite impressive. But those other idiots give you a bad name

The only thing I would really like to point out is that the "new" Mustangs really aren't "new" anymore.
People started getting these new S197 Mustangs back in late 2004. This means that by the time the new Camaro hits the roads, the current Mustang will have been on the road for over four years, and starting its fifth model year (05,06,07,08, and 09) That is also why you see so many Mustangs. Ford is kicking out over 100,000 Mustangs each year for 2005, 2006, 2007, and now starting 2008....do the math. If the Camaro is aiming to put out as many cars each year, it is also a matter of time before you see them everywhere. The Camaro won't have to compete against the current "new" Mustang. It will have to compete against Ford's counter offer when it revamps the Mustang, also in 2009 or 2010/11. Last edited by Rock36; 10-25-2007 at 08:54 AM. |
