I'm still in the free 1 yr trial in the Camaro, but I renewed my wife's car last month for $142. This was the $149 special with an extra $7 off for pre-paying the entire year.

This was for the safe & sounds package. We add the navigation when needed on a month to month charge, then cancel when we get back off vacation.

OK guys... figured out how to get $200 for the Nav package. Here are the steps:

1. Call from your car by pressing the blue OnStar button (Do not call the 1-800 OnStar number).
2. Tell them that your friend (anyone here) got the $149 Safe and Sound Plan with 6 months free Navigation included.
3. Ask them if you can just pay the extra $50 and keep the nav plan for the year.

They will do it as two different transactions, one for $149 and one for $49. You have to talk to a rep in the command center and not their usual call centers (which are the 1-800 numbers).

I initially called the 1-800 number and got routed to the Philippines, where a nice agent told me that they cannot give that price, but the command center can.

Hope this helps! Just got mine done earlier today! I am good for 12 months!

I called the 800 number and I got everything, Directions and Connections plan for $189. They will give it to you over the phone. I just called to cancel, they asked why, I said, not worth 300 for service, they said, how about 189 for the year, i said, I will take it. done.

Ahh yes, my subscription was already cancelled (did not renew it a few months ago), so they said that they cannot get that plan for non-active subscriptions. Probably why I was told to call the Command Center.

Well, I just called the 888# and was very direct. Let them know I read the forums, my onstar expires at the end of the month and I'm willing to pay the $189, prepaid. The best price they could offer was $249. I said no thanks and they asked for a minute or two to talk to a manager. Came back after a couple minutes and said the $249 is still the best price. I said no thanks and hung up. We'll see what happens once it expires. Either they'll offer a great deal or not. I'd like to have it but truthfully, I've only used it maybe 3 times in the past year for directions. Can't convince myself to pay $249 for a year.

Just couldn't let it go. Called back and went about it sequentially. Instead of asking for everything for 189... I started off asking what's the best price for safe and secure. They said 199. I said folks on the forum are getting it for 149, could they match that. They said OK.

I said folks on the forum are also getting 6 months of Directions thrown in free, could they do that. They said that depends on my account (what?), the dept that handles specials is closed on Sundays (today is Sunday) and would I mind being put on hold for a few?

Wonder what they'll say....

Sorry, the department that can do this for you is just not available on Sundays. So she'll notate my account and when I call them back between Monday - Saturday 7:00 to 11:00 then I can re-ask the question.

Oh well, much better than the simple 'Hell No' I received the first time I asked.

Mine is expiring in 7 days so i called yesterday and was on the phone for 20 minutes when I decided to give up for now. The women did offer me 3 free months of safe and secure, no directions and connections so I said no since I don't feel like having to call back in three months to haggle again. I told her about the folks on the web getting a 189 deal and she didn't bite. She eerily offered the safe and secure package for $149 so that's a given right off the bat. The best she wanted to do for me was $249 for everything. I didn't tell her the exact details about the $149 for safe and secure and the $50 extra in six months for the directions. I'm waiting to see if they contact me again. I will try one last time on the last day just to make sure that letting it expire doesn't hurt my chances. The service is not worth a penny more than $200 to me and will rely on my portable GPS if I can't get the deal. I kind of wanted the directions thing past the 13th since I'm planning on going to CamaroFest next month and will be on strange roads. I still get offers from XM 6 months after that service expired.
