I don't think GM really cars about profits, that's why it's Government Motors.

I don't think insurance will matter too much. A sports car is a sports car. My ///M3 was always cheaper to insurance than my fox body 5.0s because the ///M3 was considered luxury while the Mustangs were sports cars. My Camaro SS costs about the same to insurance than my 05 TL. I have a Gixxer 750, legally the papers say 600 because I put in a 750. A 600 was the same to insure as a 1,000. A 1,000 is no doubt more powerful, faster, etc...but it's still a sport bike. A sports car is a sports car. Power doesn't matter much, it's more about the value, the rarity, how many get stolen and if it's easy or not to steal it. My buddy also just bought a 2011 Cobra convertible and his insurance is about the same as the 2011 Mustang GT that just got totaled from someone who ran a light hitting him. Just so many factors go into this, and other factors than power.

Have you priced an aftermarket Supercharger? And aftermarket tend to cost less.

Then all the suspension upgrades. Interior upgrades etc......

I have 10k worth of performance mods in my car now without a dime of labor. And I don't have NEAR the suspension the ZL1 will have. 15k EASILY over an SS.

True but when any new driver gets a ticket for whatever reason within a year of first getting the licence its automatically suspended, then insurance is basically x3 what you originally had to pay. atm I pay like 250 a month on insurance for a 2LT, something tells me the ZL1 may push even my limits on what i can afford realistically lol

Even if the car is 50-52K you have almost a year to save up a down payment.

I don't think that anyone should complain about the cost of this car if it is anywhere near the cost of a GT500. Both cars are bargains for everything that is packed into them.

These are the only two cars with this kind of performance in that price point. If you think it will cost to much then you don't get it.

As far as everyone saying about dealer markups, go to a dealer that doesn't do that. If know one pays the markup then they can't sell. It's the idiots fault that's pays the inflated price not the dealer.

Chevrolet is almost always priced a touch higher than Fords comparable model.....

I would be shocked if the ZL-1 is priced less than the GT-500...

$51,895 is what I am guessing....

I wouldn't trade my 2010 Supercharged SS for one.....

Mid-High 40's MSRP. Add a few options at your own comfort level. Let's say $46,885 + Automatic (go ahead jump on me - but I say it WILL be available) for about $1000. Plush interior $1200. So you should be $49085 = TT&D + "doc" fee. lol. Check it!

Oh... and ADD $10k for the LS9 option..... (you didnt hear anything that would dismiss this possibility in the webchat)... HMMMMM

That's funny because where I live it's the other way around.

yeah, during the live chat, they said the suede interior would be an option. along with the carbon fiber stripe on the hood. I bet the stripped down price will be under 50k.

Price and HP should be a pretty easy guess this summer. Obviously those weren't announced now because the objective is to beat the prime competitor. GT500. Since it's not due out for a year, why announce it today and let the competition beat it.

If the '12 GT500 comes out at 550 hp, no doubt the ZL1 will be rated a hair higher. The objective is not to tie the competition. The '11 GT500 is MSRP'd at 49,500 ish. Let's hope Ford keeps the '12 under 50K.

personally i think it will be high 50's like 57-59k. if you look at vette prices base is around 50k and the zo6 is around 75k. i dont see the zl1 selling fore the same price as a base vette

The Vett is a completely different platform. When you buy a vett you're looking for aerodynamics, reduction in weight, HP, and it only has 2 seats.

What the Camaro is getting is a beefy engine for an almost 2 ton vehicle, and a better suspension. Plus if we want, we can take Mama, and the 2 kids with us...(Atleast I can)

Use the GT500 base price, add the better suspension, brakes, wheels and you have 53K.
