FWD? I don't know, with the G8 and Camaro RWD, I'd think that the Impalas would follow the same line considering it also has a V8. Have to wait and see.

That and they're clunky. Driving them at the Rev It Up event I expected it to handle somewhat like an accord. I felt like I was in a truck by the body roll/dip. Braking felt like I was looking at the street 2 inches in front of the bumper. Having more power doesn't mean it should handle like that. Maybe it's just me.

I'm surprised it handles like that! I've never driven one, but of all the reviews i've read of the current Impala's, they were supposed to be good cars.
![]() Oh, and I forgot to add, I read an article (multiple ones, actually) that the new Impala is either going to be RWD, to prevent cannabalization between itself and Malibu, or it was going to stay FWD, but significantly larger than Malibu. Has anybody else heard this? |

Hold on...the Impalas are being built on the ZETA platform in Canada...
That is a RWD platform...right??? I know the platform is set up to do all-wheel drive. But, I don't think it's set up for FWD. From last I heard, the Impalas are built first on the line and then it's the Camaro's turn. I could easily be wrong. But, if I am...someone, please, correct me. |

I was under the impression, that the deal with the Impala/Camaro assembly line thing, was for the current FWD Impalas. They have to wait for the last of those to roll off the line, then they can re-tool the plant for Zeta, and Camaro.
Because IF we get it, the RWD Impala is coming after Camaro. |

Niether do I, I can't find any proof of what I said...
But I did find numerous reports that It will be built in Oshawa line #2, and Impala supposedly on Line #1...plus, Oshawa is supposedly one of those flexible manufacturing sites, (i.e. different models at the same time).

Yea im positive that i read in Car&Driver that the upcoming Impala is RWD.
If there are any questions about the current impala or one before that, i can probably answer them. My dad has a 06 impala SS and i drive a 02 impala LS

IDK if what I said confused anybody, but these Impalas, which are the current NON-ZETA Impalas are FWD and on the W platform. I just had to look up the W part
.![]() ![]() The Zeta Impalas probably wont be out for at least another year because on chevy.com they have 2008 impalas already listed which are the exact same as the 06-07's. The checkered camo car could possibly be an Impala only because of the projectors that the new Malibu doesn't have. I really have no idea if it is or not, but it looks like a possible Zeta to me? I hope this clears any confusion

Gotta love this shit!

Even though my first thought was Accura or the new Sonata,... I think it'd be a good change for Chevy.
The Impala back in the day was a muscle car right up there with Camaro. Now they have made it a family sedan. And what's with the new body style anyway? If Chevy does intend on making this the new Impala, I am sure it'll be a hot seller. It's a smoking looking ride,... that's for sure. |

Actually, the IMpala always was a family Sedan...it just had some perks in the engine/suspension...but in all practicality, it was a huge boat of a car...not so much a "muscle car".

Bah! well reguardless to many person's belief,to me,the impala is the best car i've owned
..probably bacuse its the only that hasnt left me stranded,i've put much care into my sedan, and i enjoy every moment driving it,though i am glad its a v6 saves me some cash, haha i've been browsing around the web, looking at alot of web-sites..and my belief is that THAT car is the Malibu..possibly lumina, but i doubt thats the impala, ohh and about the name "impala" the honest real reason i like it is because i missed out on the "real?" impalas can i say..? and to me,its not the car..tho i do love it,its the fact that i got MY chance to have one of my own,not being the first generation's i still like the whole...nostalgia behind the name..thats my 2 cents

As per the Impala. If it was always a family car, with 'special' engine options...then I have to say, it hasn't changed any(besides the whole FWD miss-step). Up till next year, what other 'family sedan' in the GM lineup comes with a V8?
