Also check to see if you have the faulty MAF GM put in some of the Camaro's. It may help getting a accurate reading overall using any method to determine this. Here is the thread on this. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133383

Take it to a dyno shop and have them check what's happening inside the fuel system. If it's running lean you want to know about it now before damage is done. If it's not, then for some odd reason your setup is accomplishing something no one else has figured out yet. The results you're reporting are certainly interesting enough to check out and verify. If it's legit, then not only would every V6 owner want this mod but Chevy themselves would be interested in studying what's happening.

As I stated on the prior thread if it was this easy G.M. engineers would have built them this way. Imagine the advertising potential plus the additional Camaros sold with these MPG figures.
Makes no sense IMO.

Until you put this thing on a stand every comment on here will be pure speculation. I do have to say it looks sweet, but as others have said it really doesn't make much sense. You are sucking in warm air from the engine compartment and seem to be getting better performance...?

It's all in your head.

You do something that you think will improve your mpgs and then when you are retesting your mind is concentrated on the improved mpgs - so without realizing it probably driving a bit easier.

Cars are so sensitive to speed and how heavy the foot is - affecting mpgs. Pretty easy to skew the results by driving just a hair easier after the mod.

You see this all the time with different brands of oils. Someone puts in a designer oil, and magically they are getting great mpgs - BS.

For this situation to be true, the one filter would have to be so restrictive that it was negatively impacting mpgs, then adding the second one just brought it back to the baseline of the stock airflow. More likely though just inacurate testing.

They mentioned it might just breath easier.
After driving on the highway for a while pull over and immediately shut off the engine (really you should put it in neutral at speed, shut off, and coast to a stop but to to be safe just drive off at a rest stop).

Pull out a spark plug (or all of them) and check the color of the tip, if it's white you are running too lean. The color should be a honey like tan color.

You also have to test it more than 15 miles lol...

I remember resetting my SS once and driving like 10 miles really calmly and my mpg was like 37......

first thought would be hot engine air being sucked in..but since your driving habits aren't too intense? but I'd be concerned about premature engine wear. Do you notice higher RPMs, or burning more oil? Cool idea if no harm done.

Wait, what? The O2 sensors make adjustments while in closed loop. In open loop the amount of fuel is pre-determined based on a chart (RPM vs MAP). The car should only be in open loop (unless the 02's are bad a throwing a code) for a few minutes after a cold start and while in PE (WOT).
