GM could have avoided this by giving dealerships their preproduction CTF cars for May (the ones that they've been letting people sit in at car shows already), built V6 preorders without any constraints from day 1, then built V6 stock orders after they've built all of the committed preorder V6's, and send those stock cars out to replace the preproduction CTF cars at the dealerships. But naw lets piss off the preorder folks. Idiots.

They don't have enough CTF cars to do that and they serve a higher purpose.

One problem with that....those CTF cars aren't 100% done. That's why they're CTF cars. They're built to the most recent spec, and the drivers have to provide constant input about the car, knowing full well that something may not be quite right. It'd be a bite in the a$$ for some guy test driving the car to have a bad impression because it's not 'done'....

Then they could have waited a couple of more months on the dealership thing until they filled the preorders. Either way its a really stupid move on their part to piss off paying customers.

But that's the whole point!

They made the decision to do the dealer thing first so that everyday buyers can get into the car, asap. To me...as an outsider (not having ordered) it seems that this was the best route to take. The car is already "late", and they delayed it a month (albeit for good reasons)...I wouldn't want to waste anymore time getting a car to dealerships, either.

In reality, though...which group is getting shafted, here? 20% of the preorders...and the majority of these people are probably going to stick the wait out, as inconvienent as it is...:(

It's def a stupid move especially for crappy times like these. I know this won't happen but I think it would have made more sense to give all the preorders out first let drive them and market them and then people see them on the road than inquire at dealers.

Why should we get pooped on for not having the funds for the V8. I just don't see why they couldn't be made side by side ta least with dealer cars. It makes 0 sense.

And honestly, I would bet that a vast majority of that 20% are not #1 or #2 at their dealers. Most of the LS/LT orders were probably later in the process as most hardcore enthusiasts are the "v8 or nothin" type so they wouldn't even really be affected. There's a select few, which are the most likely to be on this forum, that are high up at their dealer that are getting the shaft.

i'd have to agree. I only got a V6 but I was number 1 at the dealer.

Doesn't change the fact it sucks though and they could have made ours with the dealer cars.

I have to agree that pushing out preordered V6's to make way for Dealers to get a showroom car is It doesnt matter how you try to justify it marketing wise (which really doesnt make a lick of sense by the way). Its not going to sell more cars and its just going to make people angry.

Also I think its a bit absurd to believe that making stock cars doesnt have an impact. Stock cars being built wont just affect a few that are getting their car early it affects everyone behind them as well.

It has to do with the big unveil on May 6. We've heard that they've told the dealers to get local media involved to generate excitement; be embarrassing if a news crew shows up for a camaor unveil and there's none there! So I understand why their doing it. But it's going to be even more embarrassing when all those invited media guests file reports about how "out of touch Detroit is by unveiling a muscle car in these tough economic times." Just wait and see.

I ordered my 2LT/RS first, but because someone had put a deposit 2 years ago, he automatically goes ahead of me, which is reasonable. This delay is just a bunch of BS. Im still not sure if this applies to us in Canada but its nonethless BS

Ive been reading here and there that all pre-orders are being pulled. Is it accurate that even the V6s are off constraint now.
