Awesome find of Alex's videos. Now I don't feel so bad, since it really felt like I lost by a couple "bus" lengths not a couple car lengths as the video showed LOL!

it might be bus lengths since the Go Pro Cameras have this wide angel lens that make things look "weird"

Yep, saw that. I did the same once and then decided to just run 4th out to the 1/2-mile mark which was pretty consistently around 6570-6590 rpm.

Boost? NA here and will likely stay that way. Will probably start building a big cube sleeved LS2 block this winter. If I had a Ford or an import, yeah, probably would do FI, but part of the draw of these cars to begin with, for me at least, was the fact that the stock heads flow so well and that we could easily do big cube motors and then take them autocrossing or on a road course, without worrying about IAT/knock/timing that FI's have to worry about.

For some reason I thought you might have been blowing due to your rwhp that was mentioned on NSXPrime.

Alex said he was running low boost with ur run. I'm trying to find out what rwhp he was at up against u.

Using a DA calculator, 99F, 90% humidity, I'd be 7% down in power, not counting loss due to timing knock retard. Looking at the earliest of 2 data logs I saved, which has a calculated (flywheel) torque parameter that I use for modifying ignition timing and which is remarkably pretty close to dyno numbers/0.85, I was making about 430 rwhp uncorrected that day. I still had my sub, amp, tool bag in the back, and I weigh 235lbs. So about 4100'ish lbs for me.

You probably know more about how much Alex's NSX weighs?

My conjecture's about Alex's 2001 NSX is that he was probably (with his power mods) right at 3200lbs~.

Stock he has one of the fastest year NSX (2001) too.

0-60 mph 4.4
Quarter mile 12.7

As you can see from my signature I have something similar to a Camaro 5th gen.

Right now both my GTO and NSX have very similar power to weight ratios (I still need to dyno both on the same dyno). Both cars deliver different power band/curve.

I will say that since the NSX engine and tranny sits right over the rear wheels, that I don't spend too much time spinning tires from a launch or on a roll. The GTO is fun in a different way by making the first 3 gears useless.

I definitely see the alure (after getting spanked!) of these NSX's. The numbers don't lie.

But part of the alure of any LS-powered car is it's ability to do long distances (with a significant other) to these events in comfort as well as participate in them. Kind of a shame it takes an extra 800...900 lbs to accomplish that. Might be time to ditch the audio equipment in the trunk and get a plate system jetted for 100...120 shot. It'll take 550...575 at the wheels to be in the same ballpark.

Also, don't forget about aerodynamics. NSX is a .29Cd with a small frontal area.

yes, the GTO and Camaro are more comfy for long distance travel, but the NSX isn't really that bad. The NSX seats are more firm yet very supportive. A different feel than the Camaro/GTO seats. GTO/Camaro also offer more leg room as well.

I NSX seats feel more like Recaros. I was on a 800 mile drive from Silicon Valley to Scottsdale AZ in the NSX to have a custom exhaust done and I was pleasantly surprised how comfy it was.

Alex said his NSX weights about 3020 with his audio system and 1/4 tank of gas. With him in the car and over 1/2 of tank, he was almost 3200lbs.

Yeah, Alex Facebook'd me last night. I'm still looking at removing my custom sub box and amp/amp board, and maybe just do a small tube that I can easily remove and leave at the hotel. I did have about 25 lbs. of tools that I could've removed, then there's the passenger seat...80 lbs?

Oh well, the car and I will never drop 900 lbs, so the only recourse left before doing a new motor is a plate system jetted for about 100-120. Unless you got any other ideas there B-man?

Maybe I should learn to eat less BBQ and more Thai!
