maybe another aspect of it, was to gauge the response
This is the camaro, after all. And perhaps they wanted input on what to do, what not to do. Of course they'd never tell us one way or the other, but they're watching...

Most definitely.

I am 95% sure that there are, or at least there were in the design phase, GM employees scouring forums across the web looking at our "surprises", "things I'd like to see", and "why I love the Camaro" posts looking for clues as to what would make the perfect Camaro. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few marketing guys as well, looking for what aspects of the Camaro are the most exciting to consumers so they can highlight those points in various ad campaigns.

I know Scott and 3whiterag are techincally "Gm employees", but I'm referring to a deeper level of research.

GM was wise in it's actions...from display at NAIAS, to the announcement of building it...so the vert the following year...then the release of Tformers giving us teasers. I think the next step will be a release of the production model.
So true about saving the money thing thats the only thing good about it.

I guess somedays are better than others.... I am driving down the road in my Monte, and pretending it is something else..... I thought I could wait, but I can't.... This bites.... Why does Chevy wait until everyone else makes a move before they can put out the comeback.... I think I am going to fall out... I play with my son's bumble bee just so I can get some type of Concept satisfaction..... Although absence makes the heart grow fonder, I am about to loose my mind if I can't get behind my Camaro!!!!

Dream about it
Detach yourself from it.
And then come back.

You are so right, though, somedays are better than others, but when I sit down at the end of the day, and think...."why am I doing this?" The answer is either, for my girl, or for my Camaro. That settles the issue for another day.

Scott's calling card: "keep the faith". I have this funny feeling inside that says even though they're coming to the game late...the whole crowd is holding it's breath for when it flys out of that locker room with more power than anticipated, and more flare than ever expected - and awes Everyone!

This is going to be a release to remember. I can Promise you that. Remember the big to-do they made with the revealing of the concept? with the bands and the music, and the smoke, and the suspense....Triple that!

As I said before, they may be late to the race but they can still lap the field. And I know about the good day/bad day thing. Its not so bad while I'm up here at school, I don't have a car. But over the summer I drove a couple thousand miles for my job. The worst was an open stretch of highway between Toronto and Ottawa. 3 lanes each way, not a single car in sight, . Almost as bad was the drive back from a small city called North Bay. This place is 4 hours north of Toronto (around 210 miles) with nothing but countless lakes and beautiful forest in between. I took a 2.5 lane country road (intermitant passing lane). For all this I was driving a 1998 Saturn, how I wished it were a Camaro . . .

Hello everyone, been viewing the site for a while and decided to register.

I think its pretty standard practice that a clean sheet design takes about 3 years to come out. GM in the past has been known for not putting out the best quality vehicles so with the new line of vehicles Sky/Solstice, Aura, Lambda trio and so forth they are really beginning to put out cohesive designs with interiors on par with their rivals.

GM needs to do this car right (as they should do all of their new cars but that is beside the point) as it has generated a lot of interest. And interest from people who would never have bought a camaro or perhaps even a domestic in the past. The design is just that striking.

My car purchasing timeframe works well for the current release as by the time I purchase my next car the Camaro will have been out for 1-2 years and the bugs will hopefully have been worked out.

My only concern is that in trying to compete cost-wise with the Mustang thy will cheapen up the interior or use some cost cutting measures and compromise it.

If GM people do watch these blogs here is one suggestion: Offer interior trim upgrade(s) as a package. I’ll gladly pay another $1-2k for a better interior. If you put something as poor as the current Mustang interior I’ll go somewhere else.

Welcome to the site. I have heard that GM is working to improve their interiors as they have been somewhat lacking in recent years. And as for bugs, I'm with you on that. Every car has bugs, and generaly speaking the first year of a new design as a few more than the average. So I'm looking at a 2010 or possibly 2011. Also, I am still a student so I need to pay off my debt first then think about getting a car

You can bet your life savings there'll be an interior upgrade package. Almost every car has one or another...
And yes, the interior will probably cheapen a bit compared to the Concept - but I'm sure that appearance-wise it'll look the same quality. Remember, a lot, if not all of the "shiny-stuff" in there is Billet aluminum; I can see the exact same feel if they used chrome...

If you want to gauge the upcoming interior, check out a few other vehicles on the same level as Camaro, that is: Chevy, pontiac, Corvette, etc. The interior in the Solstice is one to be admired, IMO, and the Vette just got an inside facelift - one that even the harshest of critics can't complain about. Then we have the '08 Malibu - enough said on that vehicle......

I wouldn't worry. This is an important car for GM, and Chevy. I have the utmost confidence that it won't be 'as poor as the mustang's' (truth be told, I like the Mustang's interior to a degree....)

My gut tells me GM will do good with this car. I have been impressed with some of their latest offerering. I'll probably look at a G8 manual to get a feel for the chasis and interior and with GM pricing the GT version at just under
30k I think will bode well for the Camaro.

Right now the Camaro tops my list for my next car, a simply fantastic design.

I feel confident the interior will look great. The new Malibu and G8 are great. And they are in a similar price point to the Camaro...

I'm just worried about weight. I know the target is 3500, but if the Commodore weighs in at 4000, I'm sort of not so sure about that 3500 figure.

Then split the difference, call it 3750. Remember, even then the base V8 will deliver around 10 lb/hp. VERY respectable
