I like the look of the regular lights myself!

I like the Halo's better, but it's not worth $1,200 for me. So I'll be skipping the RS package.

The biggest thing I don't like about the regular lights is that they are used as the DRL's. I wish fog lights were used for all models, except LS of course. Or the parking lights for non-RS cars.

Headlights are to SEE AT NIGHT and that is where the HIDs shine. I know that might sound practical, but I don't want to hit something with my pretty new Camaro because I didn't see it at night.

Yes I would not mind having the very functional HID lights as well as the rear spoiler & color-keyed moldings, I just don't want the Summer Only tires that come with the package. You can get this 20" wheel/tire pkg. alone for $470/390.10 ... would the RS pkg be worth it with this deducted ?? ... maybe.

Also, don't think a 304 HP V6 needs 275 mm wide rear tires ... 245 is plenty wide. I'm trying to get as close to the estimated 29 MPG ... do you think this was achived on these big performance meats or the skinnier standard "low rolling resistance Touring" 245's ?? I'm betting the big 20" wheel/tire package is good for a 1-2 MPG loss on the V6 models.

They have the performance 19s on the LT model...good to 155mph, just like the RS/SS wheels. I'm sure they did testing on all of them -- and if they found a significant difference, they'd have to quote it, because they're different models.

EPA MPG numbers are always based on the base car equipment, so the V6 EPA numbers were figured on the 18" Touring tires. I'd be happy as hell if it were the other way around and the EPA did all the MPG testing on the fat performance Summer tires, I should then get 1-2 MPG better with the skinny touring tires !!

There is no way you will get the exact same MPG numbers with these two very different types of tires.

Sorry I dragged this off topic.

hmm....that should be interesting to look into, then...the difference you propose seems a little steep...but I've never thought about it, before.

But I agree, back on topic.

I like the Halo's better than the standard lights...but after mulling it over; I can think of a few things I'd rather spend $1200 bucks on. And the car certainly doesn't look bad with the normal lights. I think it looks more aggressive, actually.

While I guess I like the halos better for better night vision (not for looks), I think I like the look of $1,200 better. I think it's a very expensive option for what you get and I do not think anything else about the RS package improves the car for me at all. 2SS with $470 polished wheels option is all I need!

We ended up getting the RS package just because of the halo/HID headlight combo.

I've been thinking about this question for quite some time and I recently switched to the RS package after seeing the HID's at the auto show. However today I saw for the first time in person a Camaro with the regular non-RS halogen headlights..And I have to say I have changed my mind once again and am going to choose regular headlights.. (I have to remove RS from my sig at some point..lol) The Regular headlights to me have more personality as they resemble Bumblebee's from the Transformers movie more closely..The Halo's are cool and make the car look like it has eyeballs which to some you can argue gives it more personality. However the regular headlights when turned on also have a lively presence that seems to fill in and reflect nicely during the day giving it a unique look all its own. Furthermore it looks better having the fog lamps and headlights on at the same time giving off the normal orange halogen color we all are used to... So tomorrow I will be changing my order to non-RS and also going for the polished rims.. I might even take off the stripes package as I am seeing more and more the benefits of painting them on even though it'll cost more..

I noticed that the regular lights do not match the color of the fog lights, only the HID lights match.

I would think repair and replacement of the regular headlights would be cheaper that the HID/Halos.
